If the VCA isn't going to answer questions to what is up with the car, where the raffle was held, I think people are due refunds.

Sorry, I have little faith in it if they can't even tell us, a month later, where they pulled the ticket and who was present.

I am very disappointed that we aren't getting any answers. The board keeps telling us how they are changing things and everything is going to be transparent, but we can't even get a response about this. At least they could acknowledge our inquiries and tell us they will give us answers when they can. This kind of behavior is why so many people are fed up and moving to the new club.

At this point, the 5th Amendment is probably what is on most peoples minds that have anything to do with this raffle. Better to be safe than sorry.....hence the silence.

Could be that the winner has requested that he take delivery after Jan 1 to push taxes into 2014. Could be that winner has requested information verifying that the raffle was legal so he or she doesn't have potential problems later on. Could be that the winner is trying to decide if he or she should mail in a check for $30,000 to the VCA [fed withholding]and is concerned it won't make its way to the IRS. I have no idea or any knowledge but these are issues that could be delaying delivery.

I believe the winner has to take delivery within 90 days of the car leaving CAAP. That puts 2014 out of the time-frame.
It really shows a lack of "openness" that simple questions cannot be answered. They can keep saying they are "gathering data" and "working" on other issues (which shouldn't take this long, and honestly, the complete mess should be open to all members, not just the clean-up), but the raffle is a whole different story.
Who did the drawing?
Where was it done?
Was it licensed and legal?
How was it supervised? (both the drawing and that all paid entries were actually "in the ***")

Those are all very simple, one sentence answers. No research required.

btw, I've heard the car is no longer at Woodhouse, but no idea on where it went.

I'm sure they do, but it's not their job (or even place) to have to answer that question. All they ended up doing was being the "pass-through" for the car after things went to hell and they pulled out of allowing the raffle to be held there. I don't blame them for wanting to stay out of it as best they can.
The questions should have been answered LONG AGO by the VCA.

Car has been or should be delivered to the new owner this week. Not tracking it. Many other things to do. Car was released early last week. All other raffle prizes same details.

New owner's name in this thread and others. Have asked for pics of new car at his place when he gets around to it.

I'm not a raffle specialist or a CPA who specializes in raffles and did not set up this raffle, my predecessor did. So, when I inherited this situation, I hired the best CPA firm I could find who knew about raffle cars. Our current CPA handles car and other raffles for BMW; they've done about 47 car raffles for them in the last 10 or so years, so should know what they are doing.

They told me that the IRS changed the policy and paperwork a bit for raffle recipients this year, so it took longer than we thought to get it properly sorted out per our CPA. FYI, one of the necessary reporting forms for next year won't be available until December. Love Obama and his IRS buddies.

We have been told by our CPA that as this was an internet raffle, no license was necessary and that everything that was done was "in order".

Hope this helps.

Thanks Dan for clearing this up.

Seems that some posters are determined to make something as cool as winning a Viper in a raffle to be a bad thing.

Starting rumors without any facts seem to be a favorite tactic of the rabble rousers.

Kudos to Dan for his post, but quite frankly, it should have been done some time ago. If your not given the facts, the rumor mill is the only way to shake out the truth.
the term "Rabble rousers" should be removed from the new ***'s lexicon. It's a sad reminder of the past. Paint those with legitimate questions as rable rousers. Time to move on.

If Dan's kind of post was put up the week of the draw I'm sure there'd be a lot less 'rabble rousing' and starting of rumours. As the draw happened on August 30th, I don't think anyone prior to Dan deserves any accolades for being forthright.

Denigrating the people who were asking basic questions seems to be an artform around here.

Thanks GRANGER73.

Agree, should have been cleared up a while back and do think there have been other threads on this subject, but not 100% sure. I delegated this to another and they didn't get it done. No names necessary.

I just moved from CA to TX and have been "buried in boxes" and "honey do's" for the last 3 or 4 weeks, so just checked the board today. Can't belived how much stuff I've accumulated during the last 20 years in the same house. Ended up throwing a bunch of stuff away.

Not normally a politician, so don't check this part of the board often, mostly a car / driver type Viper owner.

Will do better next time and there will be a next time, working on that now.

Any suggestions for a 2014? Thinking a T/A would be cool as a raffle car, but I'm a track guy.....

Sorry Paul, what you are saying is complete bull. It has been two months and people have been asking the same questions.

We have had a right to know and a complete lack of any information has just allowed rumors to be created.

Instead of blaming us paying members of the VCA for asking questions - there should have been information presented.

Dan, If everything was "in order" with the raffle than why did the state of Nebraska forbid the raffle happening within the state borders?

I would guess that some residents of Nebraska bought raffle tickets, but don't personally have time or care to check on this, so buying raffle tickets for an internet sale was apparently not prohibited in Nebraska.

I have been told that the State of Nebraska did not allow raffle drawings to take place in the state.

State laws seem to vary quite a bit on this stuff and it appears that my predecessor did not check on this before he tried to do it.

Hope this helps.

Per the man from Woodhouse.

Never asked us if they could print our name on a ticket, just asked if we cared if the raffle was drawn here since the car was coming here. We said fine, but found out it was probably not appropriate under Nebraska Law and told them sorry it could not be done here. Chrysler/SRT can not do these as the cars have to go through Dealers, and so we , Tomball and others have done these to help out VCA over the years. Never been to a raffle, don't have a clue what is done, as we have only been the conduit the car went through, but could care less where they draw this - we just told them we could not do it.

So you are saying that Lee setup, managed and ran the raffle not Coast to Coast management?

Like the owner's name I posted above. You are too funny. Take care. BTW, I was referring to what I had typed and then edited. The prior post did not show. And we have all seen your bias my friend.
Say's who, you?

We have all seen your bias. Shoosh now, viper owners are getting real answer's to their questions. Not that spin you call facts.

My understanding is that a CPA can not render a legal opinion; you get that from an attourney. I am not suggesting the raffle was legal or not [ i have no idea] but since the drawing was evidently not held in Nebraska as stated on the raffle form I would hope that you have a legal opinion [in writing] from an a lawyer in the state that the drawing was held. Again, I have no idea or opinion as to wheather it was legal; just saying that an opinion from a CPA has no value as to its legality. Just my 2 cents .... I am neither a CPA or a lawyer.
