Listen please. Few know what kind of guy Dan Everts is, his devotion to Viper and to the club, as well as his personal capabilities.
Dan was a professional baseball player. He learned the values of hard work, dedication, and how a team that plays well together can be far stronger than a group of individual glory seekers.
Dan was a very successful businessman, providing tremendous knowledge and expertise to his customers. He was well respected and very successful.
He has owned several Vipers, and starting at the bottom, he has become one of SoCal's fastest and most consistant racers. His cars are always well prepared and represent well on the track. Dan tends to do a lot of his own work on his cars, not just using his checkbook to make them perform well. He has also taken the time to attend many training classes, and has become a very proficient track rat.
He started up the SoCal Sidewinders racing group. They help each other out all the time to become faster and safer. They tend to show the fast way around the track when Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, Corvette and others show up on mixed track days.
Dan saw the need to encourage new Viper owners to learn more about the exquisite handling characteristics of of their very powerful cars. Dan put together a string of Vehicle Dynamics classes tought by experienced professional high performance drivers. On the safety of huge ashphalt parking lots he allowed drivers to put their Vipers into unstable situations, and tought them the proper steering, braking and throttle inputs to regain control of their cars. This very successful event has given the SoCal VCA members a tremendous leg up on surviving unexpected events at speed.
Dan asks for little praise. He works hard, behind the scenes, to enhance the Viper Ownership Experience. He is not a ranting, raving, hey look at me kind of guy, but quietly goes about his business.
Those who sell Dan short do so at their own peril.
Dan was the President of the SoCal ViperClub. During his stint, the club grew and was well respected. The membership grew, the finances were solid, the social events were epic, and the local racing scene was very active.
After serving his Presidency, he recruited Lance Kouchi as his replacement. Lance has turned out to be another one of these guys with more strength and hard work than loud noises. Dan saw what the club needed and choose just the right guy to carry on the success of the club.
When Dan was no longer Club President, he could have just concentrated on honing his racing skill, but instead he ran and was elected to the position of VCA Western Zone Director.
He saw some disfunction in the National office and stepped up to take the position of Treasurer on the National Board. When Lee needed to step down, Dan was the obvious choice to take over his duties until a new election could be held. Dan did not waiver, even though he already had a full plate of personal obligations.
Dan took up the challenge. Reformulated a fresh Board of Directors with enthusiastic, experienced, and well meaning people. These people were not the kind to just fall in step with the previous board, but had fresh and diverse skills and goals to heal the club, and make it stronger going forward.
Dan took a fresh look at some of the people that had lost their forum posting privledges (some for good reason) and restored most of them. Some of these same people have now come back to posting bad things about the club, but perhaps this is the way they repay that courtesy.
Dan has hired independent professionals to go over the books, check out the previous raffles, refresh the by-laws, and get the club back onto a solid footing. He is doing this quietly and professionally.
Dan knows that things were not going well with the club, but like the professions he is, he just kept on bearing down and throwing the ball to the best of his ability. He is strengthening the club on most every level.
The club is a better place due to his efforts.
A little support would not be unappreciated.
