1992 (early 1993) Viper:

So I didnt clear the garage door opening on the passenger side due to an over packed garage.

The passenger side, side sill got snagged and a big chunk of it (around the exhaust tip) was scrapped off. Along with the exhaust tip smashed in. A couple scratches as well. All damage was done to the black part of the side sill. What is my best option here? I remember a company redid side sills 6 or 7 years ago but I do not remember that information.

Sorry...I would re-flare the pipe, replace side sill which one can likely obtain used from Don Scharf Automotive in WI.

I would hate to have to replace it, it seems minor for me but I am not an expert here. I left a message with don sharf to get a quote. I may have to wait around until a used one pops up for sale. They seem to be quite expensive to buy.

Doesn't look like a major issue. Spray the exposed area with barbecue grill black paint (hi temp) unto l you can get to a body shop to repair it. No where near a replacement issue. But if you do, I have a brand new NOS set available.

1. Clean out garage.

2. Remove side sill and see if you can straighten bent exhaust pipe tip.

3. Bring side sill in to body shop for repair. No need to bring the whole car. It is not that hard to remove the side sill.

Not certain about Gen I's, but generally speaking any kind of plastic body filler on the side sills is going to fail. This is especially the case if you have the factory cats in place. Gen II side sills are Aluminum, I'm guessing the Gen I's are the same.

this is an easy fix, it is aluminum, so any proper bodyshop can straighten it up and respray the black part only. Would cost you 150 buck around here tops.

Are gen 1 side sills aluminum? That white stuff is most likely from the garage wall. I thought maybe a big chunk of the side sill was ripped off and would need filler. If aluminum maybe its just bent in?

Either way, the black part of the side will will need to be repainted I assume, is that going to be an easy match for the other drivers side sidesill? Or will I need to get both painted.

Drove around to all the local body shops, noone would touch it. Found one shop that has aluminum guys they charge $125 an hour, he said will take him 6 hours to fix it, then charge me to paint it. Looking at minimum of $1000... Seems a rip off, but I dont think I have a choice.

I just checked the price of a replacement part. Replacing it would cost more.
