and was NOT impressed. Not to knock Russ maybe he was breaking the car in sloooow or just didn't know the track but I passed him in every session on street tires. I was really looking forward to a magnificent debut and was disappointed. I'll wait till I see PMUM drive his there before I pass final judgement.

heh, you really think you would take down a comp coupe, a pretty much full out race car, with an RT/10 on street tires?

I'm sure he was just taking it easy and testing the car out, instead of going crazy and possibly wrecking the first comp coupe out there....

To wait that long and possibly ball the car up the first weekend. That would be a shame. Congrats Russ on getting your feet wet. Keep that car in one piece I want to see it at Mid Ohio!!

I've gotta imagine that not only is he allowing the car to break in but he's allowing some driver break in time as well - until he's intimate with the car I doubt he (or anyone) would come out of the booth flying 10/10ths...

Hey look newbie, who are you to lecture me about Viper comraderie and taking cheapshots, I'm gonna cut you some slack and not tear into you because I respect your profession. My dog just had her knee rebuilt and I thank god it could be done (there's 3 sets of Hoosiers).

Am I jealous I don't own one, HELL YEAH! But I am one of a few serious road racers that will own one this year. I never said anything to put down the car or the driver so I wanna make this clear. I've been waiting for this car for 2 years, seeing it at auto shows and following its progress. I finally got to see the first production model and I was drooling, I was expecting an epic debut, he was even in my run group. I was disappointed because things did not unfold in the manner I anticipated. I was waiting to be passed like a moving chicane but it was the other way around. I wanted to have my doors blown off in the car's debut and give me the final push to give Fiona at PVO the $20,000 deposit for one. I wanna see with my own 2 eyes this car perform, if I were driving a new CC for the first time I'd be at at least 9/10s.

Ron - You should send him an e-mail and discuss his experience with the car on its maiden voyage. Maybe he would let you know what was going on in his head and with the car and how it handled for him. I know he said he felt he needed to practice and get use to the car if I remember right. He may be able to tell you what you want to hear about the car. Have you ever sat in one of the Comp Coupes? It really feels much different than a GTS, at least it did to me. I hope when my CC arrives I can just keep it on the track and enjoy my time with the car. Maybe someday I will be able to keep up with the big boys. I'm sure you, and most of the other drivers will be passing me also!

Whoa down SoCal, the CC isn't just about speed, its about fun. Did you have more fun than the guy in the CC?

If ultimate speed is the only thing holding you back from spending your $100k, take half that and get yourself a sports racer or formula car. You'll smoke even the fastest of CC's.

Russ posted at 11:45pm on 1-25...on srt/vgx forum, said he took it very slow due to different feel, Ron posted next day on rt10/gts, Ron just missed Russ's post, so did everybody else who responded to Ron, I never did like breaking this board up into different forums, here's a harmless example of one guy missing what the other guy already said, then some other guys get in with analysis, at least one or two get irritated....wouldn't it be better or simpler to all go back to one place?

Excuse me All.

First, At the end of an event, I would prefer to get out of a Viper as oposed to a club racer, on tight tracks, a S-2000, a Porsche or Whatever. Every eventm I go to, with or without Vipers, I feel like I have a target painted on me or my car. Everyone wants to beat "The Viper". Why is that? Because we have the Badest car out there. Next----

I was at Willow Springs this weekend. If fact I e-mailed Russ Osasis about his car, to make sure when he would be there. Although I live close (about 5 1/2 hours away) I was up at 3 am so I could be at the track early to see this magnificent machine.
And let me tell you this car is, Well "unbelievable" to describe. Eric from PVO gave me the guided tour inside and out. When Eric asked Russ if it was OK for me to sit in the car, I was estatic. Eric showed me how to get in and once in the car he explained everything in detail. (sitting in the car standing still is like moving at 120 Mph).
I wish to thank Russ Osasis with this post for being so cordial and answering all of our questions, thoughts and criticisims. There are a few details that need to be worked out with the car, in fact a couple of things I spotted that I did not like and I am a rookie when it comes to track time.
I, like Socal Rebell was, I guess expecting a Phenom to just leave the starting grid and fly around the track and kick every cars *ss.
Then after thinking, wow! what if this was my car?? Ahh, a change of Heart! Whoa lets break it in properly, Safely and have a little fun in the mean time.

Since this is the first one I have seen, I will tell all of the Viper Nation-The car is UNBELIEVABLE, it reminds me of my 1986 26' Nordic Cruiser (Boat), sitting on the trailer it looked like it was doing a 100 mph sitting still.

Anyway back to So Cal, We really did expect this car to go out and kick butt. So at the V-Days in BW in 3 1/2 weeks we will see a broken in ready to race unbelievable car.
Just to let all know I will be at the bank tommorrow to get my deposit 20 K for the new price of 118 k,plus options.

If anyone can get the chance to be at any Viper Days events, you will not be disappointed at seeing the Comp Coupe (or driving your car on the track) "Plug for V-Days"

I have several pictures in a new digital camera that I am Learning how to use, as soon as I download I'll post.

Joe B (definintely getting a Comp Coupe now,and winner of the Prepared Class 2 Willow Springs) 01

PS. Thanks to Sir Fang for taking my "Hint Hint" and bringing his
SRT to the track for all to see.

Joe B - You are welcome. I had a ball driving it there and getting some breakin miles on the car. It was great seeing the CC run also.

Can't wait for mine so everyone can make fun of my driving skills! ; )

I remember when Neil debuted the GTS-R and was taking it real easy, while VCA folks were flyin by.........

Russ's car arrived that day with a data-logger that showed just a VERY few minutes of run-time on the motor, and his red-haze meter was zeroed, not pegged........

I wish I was there..........
