from the article:
In order to meet requirements laid out in the rules of certain racing series that the Viper GTS-Rs planned to run, road cars similar to the race cars would have to be sold to the public. Although the GTS-R was already similar to the GTS, a closer replica was needed to meet homologation requirements. Chrysler commissioned the construction of 100 road cars in 1998 that would use elements of the race car.

Sounds like there is some misinformation regarding the specifics of these cars.

I know I don't have all the details of this Viper, however, I have 102 in my DB and this is one of them

Viper Exchange had one of these for sale awhile back and they are really awesome. Each one came with a VHS tape that was taken during the assembly and put in the glove box for the first owner. A true collectors car.

Sweet car, while I hate those wings on a Viper this is one of a few that can pull it off. Love the color combo as well.

VHS tape? I thought I read it was a disposable camera that you'd have to take to get the photos processed?

God theres some horse **** in that first post, got to be a dealer talking out of his ****!

Suggest you get the Video / DVD 'Viper Legend in its own lifetime'

These cars came with a Kodak use once disposable camera, Pictures were taken at each workstation during the build of the car, when the new owner took possession of the car there were instructions to take the final couple of pictures and i beleive send one pic back to the Factory with the new owner.

Don't recall there ever being a VHS Tape? Friend of mine owns car No 52.

Neil got the car under sad circumstances he is now the 4th owner (I think)?
Car was originally purchased by Justin Bell, (Racing Driver) Car was then sold on, I think it was purchased by Steve Kingshot in the UK, who then sold it to the Late Paul Lacey (ex UK VCA president), Paul sadly passed away with Cancer and the car was purchased by Neil during the last weeks of Paul's life, Paul was more concerned that the car went to a good home and that the car would be well looked after and not stuck in a storage warehouse rather than the money. I believe Neil got a great deal, but the car would never have been sold if Paul was still around RIP.

I had the pleasure of a ride in this car with Steve Kingshot back in 2001

Neil and I attended the Le mans 24hrs in 2013. With Vipers return to racing Neil had the car stickered up to celebrate the Vipers win and pay homage to the No 52 GTSR winning car in 1997.

This picture was taken on the Eurotunnel train under the English channel on our way to France.

Well theres a few more miles on this car than 379! :D

I will have to ask Neil next time I see him for the exact mileage.

Who added the extra fins in the air exhaust side fenders ? I remember a vendor used to sell them on this site...are the side sills still fairly white ? The heat from the pipes sometimes makes the side panels to discolor...good luck with the car and enjoy ...
