Anyone know why on yellow and silver cars (that's what I have seen) the leading edge of the rear fascia (directly behind the rear tire) is painted a semi-flat black color, while red cars do not have this?
Is it a body color or body style issue (GTS vs RT)?

If I'm understanding the question correctly then I never noticed what you are saying. I'll look at my friend's yellow to compare.

Looks like it's on the yellow cars, but not all of them.....maybe a midyear production change, or the area was re-painted on the ones that I saw that did not have it.

My silver 98 RT had this area trimmed in black.

So it looks like it is a "light color car" deal.

Thanks

I have noticed that too and my yellow has that area blacked out as well. Perhaps to give it a cleaner look on the lighter color cars as you have noted.

Thats the battery cover. I had mine off this weekend, (97 GTS). Mine was tucked behind the facia so thats how I put it back. I thought it looked better that way anyway. Maybe its supposed to go on the outside, now that I think about it those 3 screws did not want to tighten down very well.... does anyone know for sure? Heres the link I used for battery.
