Just a bid of humor for you lawyers out there! LOL

Seriously Guys, My question is what would go into your decision in choosing a Roe Supercharger over a Levin Supercharged and intercooled system? Knowing that both of these guys are the top in their fields, What should go into ones decision to choose one over the other assuming your not going into the engine? I would like to hear from both Roe installed owners as well as Levin installed owners.

Thanks to all you boost super freaks!

Adam ;)

I think we're talking 2 different animals here. Also a different budget. As much as I'd like to own the DLM system, I'll have to go with the Roe. Not taking credit away from the latter. Also a kick in the pants. And probably the best looking system out there.

I realize the two different animals, but assuming price was not the determining factor I was interested in viper owners opinions from both sides on performance, reliabilty and overall views on the subject.

Florida,
If you plan to use street tires I am not sure there is a big difference in quarter mile times. No traction is no traction.
DLM gives you the big horsepower and the chance to go faster if you can connect it to the ground.

Assuming your not necessarily trying to build a monster but want it primarily for street fun ala not getting beat by anything on the street what then? I know that intercooling, bringing in cooler air has to help with performance and engine. Also protecting engine against detonation.

The difference in dollars can not be ignored. The Roe unit is an exellent piece of engineering and it is something that you can have the pleasure of installing yourself, giving you a sence of pride in your car and the work, that you don't get in having someone else do all of the work. Sean Roe is an absolute gentleman and will spend any amount of time needed to give you assistance. The reputation of Doug Levin is right there at the same level also. You could not go wrong either case. The horsepower and the dollars being the major difference. I for one, have been very very pleased with my Roe unit in performance and quality.

If one chose to buy and install a roe supercharger wouldn't the tuning aspect of the installation need to be done by professionals? I mean just as important as the actual installation of a supercharger so is the tuning and having the system work to its utmost efficiency.

One advantage of having a zillion horsepower is not in the 1/4 mile, but rather on the open highway, letting it romp up into the stratosphere. Not like I would know...ask Ben T.

I'll be lucky if I can put in the Roe! Most of my discretionary income goes into family projects, anyway.

The tuners that you mention in your post - Roe & Levin - and some others not mentioned - are all class acts and if I had unlimited funds...I'd have to flip a coin.

Other than Sean Roe's reputation, the things that sold me on his system were the affordability - both for the basic supercharger system and the fact that I wouldn't have to tear my engine apart to put in forged pistons. His twin screw supercharger also is perfect for my driving style of frolicking on the streets with no serious racing - the twin screw's torque - 603.5 @ 2800 rear wheel SAE corrected on my Viper lets me do serious accelleration on a regular basis (607.6 max torque @ 2950 RPM) without having to run up to the 6000 RPM redline, but if I do run up to maximum power at 5750 RPM, then I have 580.4 rear wheel SAE corrected HP. (I probably have even more power since the dyno run ended at 5750 RPM and the HP curve was still going up-up-up!)

Your Viper has forged pistons and you can go with Sean's Gen I Supercharger System when it comes out or with any of the others for a Gen I. Check out the differences in where the torque and HP are made from the different types of systems and what RPMs you normally drive at and also how you normally drive. See what system gives you the best power per affordable dollar for how you drive. And then go get it! :usa: :D

I think you can't go wrong with either tuner, they both have great reputations in the viper market. One tuner makes an easy to bolt on system , the other installs a custom built system. I can only say wiht my own experience dealing with DLM. Doug wants control over his product to make 100% sure you get the performance and reliabilty of his system. His system compliments the viper for what it should be.
I've had three cars built by him and can say they are first class and very fast. I don't care much for the track racing like my son does. I prefer the street performance of the system.

Don't forget to mention Heffner. Top notch just like Sean and Doug. Priced in between them also (I think). My first question to Sean was.....is it quiet. I have another car with the beautiful centrifical whine. I didn't want the whine on my daily driver. $$$ was also a major concern, its tough supporting three hotrods among other things. Kind of like a GTS or an RT/10....yes they are similiar but very different. Depends on what you want.

From what I've been reading, which has been a lot over a good deal of time, there definitely seems to be three that are topnotch and quite popular, but there also seems to be a fourth that needs to be included, based on all my research. So, the four being:

Jason Heffner..... http://www.HeffnersPerformance.com
Doug Levin........ http://www.DougLevinMotorsports.com
Sean Roe.......... http://www.RoeRacing.com
Daniel Cragen..... http://www.ViperShop.com

Respectfully,
Daffy

P.S. This is not advertising. You'll find that I can't stand seeing names and places listed in the forum that have no websites included for those that know nothing of these things, forcing them to hunt down the information. It's just easier to always include a link. :)

Adam,

The nice thnig about the Roe system is that you need no preofessional tuning once ou receive your system complete with the VEC-2 Sean creates a computer program for your car for the type of fuel you will be burning. I can't say anything about the other tuners systems as I have no experience with them only what I have read. If you have any specific questions onthe ROe system feel free to E-mail me.

While Vipers are clearly out of MY personal budget, my father has one. I have spoken with Sean Roe a few times for pieces and parts. Sean is a Very stand up person, His products (all that I've seen ) are top-notch, perform and fit as described. I would and do have NO issues with recommending him for any Viper accessory.

Lucky for me he is local. Call him with your questions, he will (at least for me he has) answer any questions.
I can't express how strongly I appreciate the help hes given to me.

I have met Sean Roe and Doug Levin. Both of them are GREAT guys.

I have heard only one negative thing about either of them in over a year and it turned out the guy was a real ****** who was not telling the full truth.

I don't think there is a real way to compare the 2. Neither is trying to be like the other. They offer 2 distinct different products.

Holy [******] I sound like Switzerland.

Choose either one and I don't think you will go wrong.

Yes, it is Cragin. Sorry for the typo. But that did not lessen the point of my post...well, at least not for those who ignore spelling errors. *chuckle* Anyway, I fixed it! :D

i am going with Roe probably next summer after the house is done.

Jim, Congrads on the house, hope the info on the Takagi water heater was helpful. I JUST COMMITTED TO DLM FOR STAGE 1 with intercooler and some other goodies. Yeah Baby!
