Roller rockers. Are they all the same?

I've had the T&Ds for a while. No complaints. Very well engineered pieces, but expensive just for street use. Just so you can have the same rollers used by the GTS Rs. Not worth the money. If your porting heads installing a big bump stick and doing major racing mods on your car, go with them if not Crowers are fine. Just my 0.2

I have many, many track miles with Crowers and I personally see no need for shaft rockers in a 6000 rpm, hydraulic-cammed car. The Crower tip style has been used successfully by OEM in the LT4. The T&D is a magnificent piece, but a waste on a mild motor, IMO. If budget is absolutely not an issue, go T&D.

If you don't know for sure how to install rockers, don't install Crowers, as a mistake can cause a dropped valve.

The best fix would be guide plates with simple stud-mount roller rockers.

I have installed all of the available rockers for Vipers including the new Arrow pieces.

I like the arrows for ease of installation as they are shaft mounted in cylinder pairs and have the backing of the same company that rebuilds your Viper engine.

The T&D is the top of the line setup and will give worry free service under hard usage. They require a bit more work to install and usually require a custom length pushrod.

All of the brands give added valve lift without any more valvetrain noise than stock, when installed correctly.

Feel free to contact me with any questions that you may have regarding rocker arms for your snake.

My experience is purely anecdotal, others may vary. I do not think the design is bad, though, and cannot vouch for installation by others, one way or another. I do wonder if an installer that made (or may have made, as once the valve is dropped I doubt you can accurately check to see if the rocker was lashed properly) an error would say "yes, I think I made a mistake and will purchase and install a new engine for you."

I am not sure what "severe usage" means. If you are going over 6000 rpm with great frequency, then I agree, go with shaft rockers.

I will also say that a used set of Crowers I bought that had been "installed correctly but did not work" had been clearly installed incorrectly. Every rocker had been driven down onto every stud and was galled.

I guess I am surprised at the Crower problems people have faced, as I can break an anvil and Crowers are one think I have NOT had problems with. Also, I have yet to hear from anyone that personally installed the rockers who had problems, so there is a bit of a hearsay issue in my mind.

No flames intended, as the shaft pieces are clearly the best.

Very interesting - I should not be so confident, it seems. My car is basically stock, so an overrev is unlikely, but I agree with you - zing the engine into valve float and you might not retain the crowers.
