Well, I may get my viper early! That is, if I can find a 93/94/95 (yeah right) for 35K or less. Have someone who wants both my 'Cuda and RR in one shot, so I will be car-less for a short time. If anyone has a 93/94 I can pick up for 35K or less right now, then I can get my toy before my wedding (shhh... don't tell the woman...) ;)

Do you guys think I could find one for 35?

Yes, but it will take some patience, research, and a lot of haggling. Of course a little luck wouldn't hurt.

I wanted to drive away in a viper since day one, but it didn't look like it was going to happen. I want to make it happen!

Whats a fair price for a 94? If your selling... 35K LOL ;) ;)

Who knows. May wait until just before the wedding and poney up the 45 I had planned to spend, just hitch a ride w/ the woman for a few months (work is roughly 3 miles from my home).

I may get lucky, you never know!

I know of a 93 RT, Venom 500 package, 38k if it's still for sale. Absolutely in great shape with BBS rims.

E-mail me if you want the information.

94s tend to be lingering in the high 30s low 40s depending on condition ect... I have found several RTs in the 35-40 range but I personally haven't decided to buy used or wrecked yet. If you happen to be one of the 7 luckest people in the world you can pick up a cherry 94 in the 35 range, but you could also hit the lottery while your at it.

It's possible to get an early RT/10 in the price range you're looking, as I recently got a '94 RT/10 in the low $30k range One thing to keep in mind is that Vipers in this price range are not going to be 'cherry', but since my intent was not to have an asthetically perfect car it wasn't a big issue to me. For example, my '94 has some paint blemishes and "high" miles (29000 miles), but its just *great* mechanically speaking (new battery and transmission, even), and the paint blemishes are not apparent unless you're looking for them. Also, I have a 1992 rear wheel, which is a different shade of grey than the other three wheels.I have an order of Zaino on the way to do its magic.
The Internet provides a great shopping ground, and I'm overall quite pleased with how Latham Dodge provided me with a good description of the car - in advance - so I knew what I was getting into. Overall, I'd say Eric Lee was great.
Good luck.

I wish you luck on finding an RT10 for around $35,000. But it does my heart good to see the prices holding at $40-45 K on a low mileage car.

MadMaxx,

How about a 92 with 1700 orig. miles for $38,000 OBO?

It has been in AutoWeek for a few weeks now.

I know it is more than you were looking to spend, just trying to help out.

I sold my '94 RT/10 (20K miles) for $34,500. The car was in perfect condition. Unfortunantly, the economy was not.

It comes down to the buyer's delimna. Unfortunately divorce, death, etc. causes prices to fall. I've seen 94's w/7K miles go for 40K & 97GTS' w/ 9K miles go for $52K. It all depends on the circumstances. Do your homework and don't get rapped up in a "spur of the moment deal". No matter what, there will always be a better deal come up after you bought your ride. I've be talking to a couple of dealers online and the consensus seems to be that there will be a sharp fall in price once the SRT arrives. A lot of Viper owners have the car to fulfill an image need and nothing more. Once the more comfortable/drivable car comes onto the market many of these owners will trade up instantly at a very low price which will leave a vacuum in the market. Of course, with the cars being what there are, the bottom will never fall out completely and should rebound soon afterwards. If you're smart you'd wait until this window opens and ****** up what you can then. It may mean waiting another year, but that's the price you'll pay for going cheap.

Remember that the SRT is by "invitation" only!!! It will be quite awhile before the shear numbers of these cars have a major impact on the resale of Gen I and II cars IMHO. Also, remember that many on this board have expressed a strong dissinterest in the new SRT!!! Just something to consider

Kurt - Oh I believe that many here will never touch the pink slip of a SRT, but lets remember that some 13k Vipers were build and I've only seen a couple of hundred members on the boards. I personally know of several viper owners who drive the car to garner attention and look wealthy. These same people would trade in a viper for a Cooper Mini because they would "look" cooler with one. (The exec of my office just bought an Audi TT for that very reason.) The sports car version of these people won't hesitate to trade up the moment it becomes available.

Bonkers - I hear what you are saying!! However, my experiences with the North Texas VCA has proven to be a different story. There are some who are getting the new SRT, but most of them are also planning on keeping their current Viper (for awhile anyway). I believe that many people who purchase a Viper are a special group and all are not eager to dump the car when something faster comes along. Then again there are those owners who are really not into the Viper sceen (involved in the VCA, club events, etc.) and will sell the car when the wind blows a certain way!! (My brother was one of those - bought a Ferrari)

Going to have to disagree strongly with you on both a price drop when the SRT comes out and 13,000 Vipers being a "lot" of cars.

The bottom of the Viper market has been unbelievably stable for years, only seeing high 20's and low 30's for "high" mileage cars..... 30,000 - 60,000 plus mile being considered high mileage. They usually sell pretty darn fast.

There is almost a cult following already for the Gen I/II cars, and that really seems to be the driver in keeping the prices up..... price "creep" hasn't hurt either, remember MSRP on a '92 was 50K....now it is 20+K higher, as the price of entry rises.... so does the "floor".... When the SRT comes along, well, those that love the Gen I/II cars will hang onto them, and those that want them.... will still want them (and still be looking to buy one).

People who own cars just to look cool, may sell them..... but to people who want them
smile.gif
Prices will only drop when supply exceeds demand, I'd guess the next eight months to a year will be the "good time to buy"...... after that, things could change. Many here feel the SRT buyer will not necessarily be the same buyer as the Gen I/II cars, only time will tell.
