Kurt - Oh I believe that many here will never touch the pink slip of a SRT, but lets remember that some 13k Vipers were build and I've only seen a couple of hundred members on the boards. I personally know of several viper owners who drive the car to garner attention and look wealthy. These same people would trade in a viper for a Cooper Mini because they would "look" cooler with one. (The exec of my office just bought an Audi TT for that very reason.) The sports car version of these people won't hesitate to trade up the moment it becomes available.

Going to have to disagree strongly with you on both a price drop when the SRT comes out and 13,000 Vipers being a "lot" of cars.
The bottom of the Viper market has been unbelievably stable for years, only seeing high 20's and low 30's for "high" mileage cars..... 30,000 - 60,000 plus mile being considered high mileage. They usually sell pretty darn fast.
There is almost a cult following already for the Gen I/II cars, and that really seems to be the driver in keeping the prices up..... price "creep" hasn't hurt either, remember MSRP on a '92 was 50K....now it is 20+K higher, as the price of entry rises.... so does the "floor".... When the SRT comes along, well, those that love the Gen I/II cars will hang onto them, and those that want them.... will still want them (and still be looking to buy one).
People who own cars just to look cool, may sell them..... but to people who want them
Prices will only drop when supply exceeds demand, I'd guess the next eight months to a year will be the "good time to buy"...... after that, things could change. Many here feel the SRT buyer will not necessarily be the same buyer as the Gen I/II cars, only time will tell.
