I am having trouble locating a RT/10 rear window. I searched the old threads and I read about problems with the rear window seal. I was wondering if anyone that bought a replacement due to the seal still has the rear window? I actually have the rear seal, snaps and locks (2001) so I am considering a lexan or safelight cut glass as an alternative. Does anyone have a template of the rear glass? Thought I'd ask to see if anyone else has had this problem locating the rear glass. Thanks.

good luck, its a biitch. the glass is easy to locate safelite auto glass has em for under four hundred bucks. the hard things to locate are the fasteners, seal, and locks. however, any upholstery shop can make the fasteners and the seal and locks can be fabbed as well

i'm not sure if my 94 window is the same size as your year, but i was thinking of having some made.

one of my customers owns a glass co. & can custom make any size glass. i was going to have him use mine as a template and use actual tinted glass. probably 20% or so. this way i wouldnt have to use a film over it.

send me a PM with your info & i'll let you know what he says. if you have the gasket & snaps it shouldnt be that tough. i should have an answer for you w/ price by next week.

Well it's looking good. Sounds like there is some interest! Count me in as well....

Too bad I sold my old RT/10 rear window storage bag on ebay earlier this year!

My window is actually fine right now, but I like the idea of using real tinted glass. The film they put on the back window looks like a 6-year-old did the cutout.

The tint is also quite dark - makes it very hard to see at night while backing up. I was going to mount one of those pinhole cameras on the rear and have the video signal delivered to my in-dash LCD so I could see wth is behind me. As it is, I'm using The Force.

Woodhouse quoted me $700 + shipping for a complete replacement (Window, seal, locks, snaps)
As I mentioned I have all the above except for the glass. I think I'd try a cheap lexan replacement before shelling out that much. It is VERY hard to find however.

What did Jon want for just the glass???

FYI

visited my customer today & dropped off my window.

he is going to make some windows with different variations. one tinted glass, one regular, and another with a greenish polarized tint (would look sweet on a green Gen 1)

the gasket doesnt look to tough to duplicate. he has a similar seal that he uses now, its the snaps that will be difficult.

anyways, i should have some numbers together in about a week or so. i have no idea on cost yet.

Reference the seal question in one of the threads someone had recommended using some generic U-channel weatherstrip ala J.C. Whitney

Does anyone have an idea of what a used but good condition 1995 rear window would be worth?

I've got a rear window from an '02 that was never used. Glass, seal, locks, key, snaps, and leather sleeve are all pristine. It sounds like Woodhouse already quoted you pretty low, given the supply and demand, but I'm willing to negotiate something.

I've got a $100 bill with your name on it!

Well, as "chickenwarrier" stated earlier in this thread that a new window with all of the attachments is going for around $700, AND, as someone else mentioned that they have evidently discontinued selling the 1995 rear window, it would seem a number up more in the $500 range would more likely correspond to proper supply and demand pricing. :)

Well I'm waiting (& hoping) tim is going to come through for us. As I mentioned before I only need the glass, not the hardware or seal. For as little as the window is used, I might attempt a plexi-glass replacement for the time being. Regardless, I don't think $700 is a "good" price, as stated earlier....
Thanks for your offer though. I'm sure you'll have no trouble selling it if you want to.

Sure hope that weather striping works; don't need a new window, just the rubber.
