i was just on my way home from work on I-15 (top down, jammin to some music) when i hear somehthing, i pay it no mind. then i hear it again... i scan the road ahead and i see the only car it could be so i speed up to see what it is. it was a yellow C6 Z06, and it was LOUD!! i followed him on the offramp to I-215 and we both know its on.. i can hear him downshift as i'm downshifting and as we come off the ramp onto the 215, it was on!!! we both lost traction in 2nd and i pulled ahead, but he pulled strong and by the top of 4th into 5th he was ahead by about 2 cars!! we went again from around 60-70 and he pulls hard again. we get a couple miles down the road and there is another silver C6 Z06!! they went at it and the yellow one beat him convincingly and i pulled on the silver one slightly. they both exited and i continued to a gas station. i do have to say that i love my new SRT, but if i was is my old ACR with heads and cam etc.. i think it would have been different.
either way, it was an awesome night, i can't remember the last time i had so much fun that was not set up, just random.

Finally got it !

How dare you. You bag of ****. Endanger all around you because you are having a midlife crisis. Get some ****** and stay home with a good flesh mag. To think you bought this car to have a little fun now and then. Then people wonder why Vipers are hated so much. So what if the guy in the Buick just took out thirty people at a bus stop because he couldn't see anymore.
The car will picked up in the morning by the insurance police!

Nice run!:rolaugh:

The unplanned meet ups are the best. I remember on the way to track, I noticed a Yellow C6 Z06 coming up on me. We ened up going at it. I had exhaust and couple things done, he was stock, so I started pulling him. He gets off a few exits later. What was reallly funny is about a hour later he shows up at the dragstrip. So we ended up BS'n and running eachother a few times on the track.
Sometimes I'll look on freeay for someone to play with, but the meet ups with an equal car are rare.

i agree with MikeR. it is funny just how much fun these chance meetings are. i was traveling south on I-795 by owings mills (maryland) when i came up on a red Z06. it was a perfect chance to play! and the driver was a perfect mark.... he was about 60 +/- with a smoking hot girl 20-25 years old. you know he was going to show her just how awesome he and his car were. we were "neck-n-neck" a few times but all-in-all i was the winner in by far. we both smiled (i smiled a bit bigger than he did though) and waved as we parted ways. it was a blast. almost as fun as...... well..... it was fun. for fear of reprisal (by Finally got it) I won's say how fast we went but it was NOT 55!!!!!! :)

These matchups are like two pit bulls coming across each other! To date I have blown away every Vette I have met. Ironically, my most difficult dogfight came from an Audi S-4! I dont know what this guy had, but I did not pull him until I was up to 140 mph! (closed track of course!:D ) I pulled him by two cars, then we got out of it, gave each other the thumbs up. I have blown away Ford GT's, and Ferraris. The Vipers second gear is the beast from dead stop, 4th from a rolling start for me. I am modded w/ Belangers and VEC 3. My most difficult fights come from Porsches. They jump me by a full car from dead stop every time and their second gear is serious, but I start pulling them at the top of the second gear power band, once I shift to third...its all over. I will be at Limerock next week for the driving course and will learn my car inside out! WADDA LIFE! VIPERS RULE!!!:2tu:

Cool story & as they say, be careful out there.

I had a run in with a C6 Z06, it seemed stock & my car still had the card board tag on it, drove by the drag strip on a whim just to see where my mph would be as a measure of my stock power. Total chance they lined me up next to the C6 Z06, i couldn't believe it, I figured it would be my first loss in a Viper (coming from my GenII and only have 3 days in my SRT), I ran 11.93 to his 12.3, I got him from the start & never saw him again til he flew by after the lights. Whew, probably 5 runs outta 10 either one would win, but it was sooo good to win that, I just hopped off the return road & went home while life couldn't get any better.

Yes, indeed--the unplanned ones are the best, as we don't track the car, just 'street' it.
Hard in this area to find a car that matches up with the Viper, but we have fun just the same with Trans Ams, Porsches, Z06's, Ford Lightnings....all these are cars/trucks we have ummmmm, run with (NOT to say word 'race'!!!) oh, and beat all but the Lightning...he had slicks, we do not, he had a head start, we then hit a red light and it ended before it really began! FUN, but BEEEEEE careful. ~juli~

i did just speak to my friend about the whole event, and i come to find out the Z06 owner is his neighbor. it is in fact not a Z06, it is a built 408 motor with twin turbo's in a C6 corvette. it had the wheels and flares to look like a Z.
my car has corsa track exhaust.

Reminds me of when the a$$hat in a F430 thought it would be cool to give me the bird after I gave him a thumbs up.

Safe to say, I kicked his ego down....ALOT!

I was in the Gym with a bunch of guys BS'ing about their rice burners and street racing. When they asked what I was driving, all I said was "A Viper" and the room got quiet. Then one guy said. "I don't race Vipers". I was thinknig to myself "where are the 700HP Supras?". I did'nt even want to say the word "Paxton".

I'mjealous. Ive had my Viper since last fall and I have only had one taker - a new Mustang GT on the highway. I almost regret shifting out of 6th as it might have at least given him a fighting chance. All the rest of the road warriors which are mostly Mustangs and WRXs will slow down going the opposite way in an intersection and rev their motor. I guess Maryland is boring.

When I lived in Maryland a had lots of chances to street race, and took just about all of them. And there are lots of good places for high speed runs, i.e., RT210 north a few miles south of the beltway - 140 easily in that area with never a cop.

I have only come across one C6 Z so far, but he was not too much trouble.

Poor guy was expecting an 01 Viper with exhaust. Tee Hee.

Sounds like a fun night!

I am Richie V. You mean there are 2 of me. Don't lose any more races with my name.

My Viper so far has destroyed everything I have run. Vettes are my specialty. Most of my runs are interstate and by chance or random also. The Hot Rod Power tour had a 02 TT ZO6 and I shocked him big time. When we made it to the first stop in Ga. his face had a priceless look. I am not sure if this is a word but I say he had the STUPIFIED LOOK. I also have a fully built DLM package with 24,000 miles so I have had the time to slam numerous Vettes.

Vipers rule and vettes drool

I have the same equipment in my '05 as you have. Have you had your car dynoed? If so, what rwhp and rwt, if you don't mind. I haven't had my dynoed with working VEC3 yet, but without it, 481 rwhp and 506 rwt. Thanks!

Like Ritchie said,

I'm having trouble even getting challenged lately. I think the spankings I've been giving the locals have gotten around.

I even changed my license plate in an attempt to egg some Ferraris, Porshes and Vettes on. It now reads: 4 beatn u

Still no takers. Vipers definitely have a reputation that puts fear into other driver's minds. Maybe some of them have run into that occasional Paxton or TT car and they think all of them are that fast!

The Viper nation is small we have to stay strong.

Dan I was curious how you approached the exhaust system on your beast?

I removed the 4 cats and added 2 burns mufflers in front of the stock mufflers.

Bellanger headers.

My situation is like Viper X - In a small town word gets around. Just a few days after the DLM SC install I beat bad, on the fly, the so called town "Bad Boy" with his reported 580 hp SC Mustang that would do 11.2 in quarter(doubt that). I was told the guy had been bragging how bad he was going to beat the old man in the Viper. Since this Ive seen very little of this mustang around. Things are right down peaceful in this area.

Hey Rich Gene here-How are things going. You have one mean machine. I would hate to think what my Viper would do with 200 more hp like your Viper. Gives me the itch. I know I know scratch it.;) Dog gone this high HP gets addictive.

Hiss after making some additional mods I thought I would be happy with 12lbs of boost & 854rwhp. Through fine tuning on the dyno Doug added almost 70 more ponies by going to 15lbs of boost and always running 93.

Hey Richie,

On my exhaust system, I tried almost everything. Long story short, I don't like loud cars and in fact prefer my cars to be a bit stealthy. I know, it's hard to look like a sleeper in a Viper, but that was and is my plan. I've had a couple of guys, after the fact, say that my car "didn't sound like much before they tried me", and they're right. It's reasonably quiet at idle and on the road. When you get on it, it screams.

I run B & B stepped headers throught their 3-inch exhaust with high flow cats and cross overs. Yes, I wish I could get rid of the cross overs but without them, this car droned so badly that I didn't enjoy driving it. And no, heat is not much of an issue with the 3-inch system.

I see that you're running 15 lbs of boost. Man, be sure you get good gas especially in hot weather. I max at about 11.5 lbs of boost at 6500 rpm (535 ci / Stryker heads, etc. with a 3-inch pulley) on a 91 octane tune. I still mix my gas 50/50 with 91 and 100 octane to be safe.

I'll likely add a water / alcohol injection system this summer to lower intake air temps. With the AEM in the car and their gauge, I can monitor intake air temps (and lots of other stuff) and intake air temps get pretty hot on warm days after a run up through the gears.

We are a small group and do need to stick together.

Good luck and good hunting,

Dan:headbang:
