Well, about 1000 miles after the cam bolt recall it looks like the balancer bolt came out. My wife was driving it today and it left her stranded. The balancer is loose but still there. Will know more tomorrow. It did have some belt squeal prior so beware if you hear any.

Edit: 3000 miles total :( Thanks Dodge for using a SMALL balancer bolt.

That does ****, however, at least you've still got one very fast GTS. What did you mean by a small bolt...is it an engineering issue or it just wasn't torqued correctly? Good luck!

1TONY1, my wife participates in a monthly Buddy Check. It is where 2 friends call each other once a month to remind each other to do a self ****** exam.
It looks like we should all pair off and do the same for the balancer bolt.
Just checked mine and all is well. :D

Ps. While I was out in the garage I checked the torque on the lugnuts and all the fluids.

They probably didn't use the locktite on the bal. bolt. It is very easy to check on the car, and yes there is a tell tale to it being loose. You will hear a sqeak in the front when the car is cold, and then it goes away, at that point the bolt is so loose that the balancer is actually wobbling and causing the sqeaking. I had this happen to me.

I may have mispoke on the size....maybe because the head size is much smaller that causes a lower torque spec for the balancer bolt. I should check into this more, but being that it's under warranty I wasn't to concerned.

The thread size may be the same, but the head is smaller and from "what I think I have read" :) it has a lower torque spec.

I wonder how much they would have saved by keying the cranks or like Sean Roe says: they could have used left hand threads and there would be no problems. But hey........what do we know

Tony,
It is not only yours, I have found a dozen or so of them. I sent out a e-mail to all of my srt owners in my vca region to come in and get them checked. I didn't want anything to happen like what happened to you. The cam bolt recall had a longer grey bolt for the crank, but they changed it with the shorter black bolt. Wait until your flywheel bolts fall out next...we have already had it happen.
Later,
Joe
