I just saw this car in person yesterday it is unbelievable, I love the viper but this car make the viper look like a joke. Srt really needs to improve the design ideas and aero and braking package to compete with this car. This car actually comes with 20 in wheels with sport cups, why the viper is still sporting 18/19 is beyond me. The viper has its work cut ot for its self.
Typically the best car in the world is the one that has just been announced or imagined, but is not yet available for purchase nor evaluation.
It has no flaws, and great potential.
They rarely live up to their potential, nor are flawless.
Gotta compare existing cars to be valid.
I liked the C7Z a lot when I first saw the leaked photos, but then I still like the lines of the Gen V better. GM has put a lot of good engineering into the car, no question about it. But I still think there might be heatsoak issues with the new FI engine. And I still can't get over the look of the new rear end. I was contemplating getting a Stingray to drive to work and for $60K, that's a pretty good deal, and after thinking about it for a month, I voted with my wallet, I sold my Gen 4 ACR and went out and got a Gen V TA. So for about the same money, I could have kept the ACR and have a new Stingray in the driveway, but decided just to have one car, the TA. I feel the TA is that good of a car and here are my reasons many of which of course are very subjective, and I'm comparing the TA to both the base Stingray and the forthcoming Z.
1. The TA looks better than the Z still, and much better than the base car, the Stingray
2. The TA has better brakes for my use of the car - for us weekend warriors even though ACRX brakes are heavier, but have also been track proven and would give me more than ample braking power and fade resistance than any carbon ceramics (for my use of the car). and carbon ceramics could be very expensive to replace if you crack a rotor which can easily done if you are not careful when changing wheels and have a wheel just brush up against a rotor. The TA's brakes feel very linear, btw.
3. The TA has just as much carbon fiber on it as the Z and I'm a CF ******.
4. The interior of the TA is 90% top notch (there are a few interior hard plastic panels that look like they are from the Gen 4 - meaning fit is not so great), so I would say it will be no worse than the Vette.
5. NA engine is better than FI engine for road course use.
6. Vipers are more rare than Vettes
7. I just love that orange color.
8. I like Ralph much better than GM's CEO, what's her name again???

http://forums.viperclub.org/threads...-gt-gt-gt-gt?p=3067542&viewfull=1#post30675421) We kept 18" wheels at the front to minimize rotating, unsprung mass
I mean, hell, the F1 cars are only running 13" wheels, why?
Depends on what state you are in. This quote from an article on the subject:
Ground clearance is ****. Does size matter? You betcha. Many states have minimum street clearance for street legal vehicles. It may be measured by body clearance of wheel rims. Hydraulic suspension lift may be restricted to a few inches as well. Utah requires three inches of ground clearance, excluding tires, rims or mud flaps. You can’t remove main springs or shocks.
And many states have bumper height regs but they are usually keyed into the OEM bumper height. For instance:[h=3]Georgia[/h]Modification of original vehicle bumper height or altering suspension system is illegal if altered more than 2 inches above or below factory recommendations.
Lastly, there are Federal regs regarding how the bumper acts in a collision with a pedestrian. The car at the show looks very low to me. I doubt the production street version 's front fascia will be lower than 4 inches from the ground.
