I AM SO PISSED!! As I exited the freeway I had to slow down on the off ramp because of the traffic ahead of me. On my left a semi came up fast and started to swerve into the offramp RIGHT BESIDE ME. Temporary barriers for construction on my right and NO WHERE TO GO! I had to literally slam on my breaks! I could feel the Viper shift all it's weight to the front and the brakes beggining to lock up. INCHES! He missed me by inches with that damn HUGE metal crash bumber. I'm lucky there was no one behind me! DAMN! I'm surprised I didn't lose it and bounce off the wall. When I got home, as I got out all I could smell was the burning of rubber. I had to check to make sure I didn't actually get hit because I was so amazed I WAS ALIVE. I'm STILL SHAKING! THERE WERE ACTUALLY GROOVES ON THE TIRES from the grooves on the freeway!!!!!!!!! Tunnel vision. It was like tunnel vision as the semi got closer and the path ahead of me got narrower between the semi and the wall!!! I think I was holding my breathe, because I let out a huge sigh of relief as soon as I realized I wasn't crushed! The semi had swerved halfway into my lane and back out again. HALFWAY!! If the Viper hadn't slowed as fast as it had, I am certain I would be dead. I can still see in my head that metal bumper right at my driver's side window.

Yikes! Glad you're ok. In San Diego, it was prob a nafta truck from the south. My job had rquired a lot of travel, on some legs I had to accompany our trucks, so I met many truckers. Those guys are crazy about not stopping... sleep driving, peeing in cups instead of pulling over... some even wear Depends!

On the lighter side: Isn't "slowed as fast" an oxymoron? And where's Fred to remind us that more driving school would've kept you from locking up your tires during brake? hehehe :D

Thanks for the concern, guys. You never really realize how much of your life is in the hands of others until something like this happens.

Sounds like you handled yourself and your Viper very well. Therefore, everything turned out OK! :thumb:

Probably couldn't see you alongside in his blind spot.I am very traffic careful in the low slung Viper on the highway.Yesterday getting on to a local limited access. After the entrance ramp the entrance goes left then right to merge.Large truck is half out of the lane and on the right shoulder entering the left part going very slowly. If I were in the Viper I would have hesitated to completely understand his intentions. However in the ram pu daily driver with wife and 2 dogs I just naturaly went for the inside.I'm halfway by and the guy starts comming into the normal lane.Hit the gas, move left,2 wheels in dirt,2 reflector things taken down.NO big deal in a pu truck but would be very nasty in a Viper. Then again maybe not. With Viper power it might have been possible to shoot by without hitting the dirt.
