Hi,

I just go my new serpentine belt and realized, that it is different from the one installed. I hope the pics show the differences well enough. Part number seems to be correct: 04763795AD ('98 RT/10 with A/C).

Here's the new belt:

And here's the one currently installed:

Can I assume, that they just changed the design of the ribs over the years or should I be concerned to install it (wanted to install it during my P/S pulley replacement exercise as proactive maintenance)?

Many thanks!

The one currently on your vehicle looks aftermarket

Explaining Viper things to you
That is not a sign of anything aftermarket, but instead, a belt that has the diagonal grooves that are engineered to remove water quickly from the friction surfaces should you drive in wet conditions.

Replacement is called a Gator back by Good year I think and the other looks like a Gates brand which is cheaper.

So if I understood correctly, there should not be an issue with installing it. Guess I should worry if it would have said FIAT :smirk:

I think that the Fiat one takes away an extra 10 HP from getting to the wheels. :rolaugh:

:rain: Well, to each his own I guess.
But definitively not my cup of tea as I clearly prefer :sun:

Can't wait to put on the "nice weather belt" to match my "nice weather rubber" and release a few more HPs :rolaugh:
