Smelly Car

Every since I did high flow cats and a Corsa the exhaust smells extra funny. Not funny like exhaust or unspent fuel. It smells bitter or sooty almost like dirt. Like the inside of a chimney or something. Describing a smell is pretty hard but all I can say is the exhaust smells like no other exhaust I have ever smelled.

I am fully aware of the sillyness of this post but . . Its driving me crazy

Does anyone have similiar mods whos exhaust has a unique smell? I just cant figure out what it would smell so different then other cars?

For example my friend has an Ls1 with a cam, heads, SLP exhaust and the car smells like a muscle car. Like gas and exhaust. My 01 GTS smells nothing like that.

What gives?

Keith, you have to tell her to keep her lifters crossed and that should get rid of the smell!

Try changing where you buy your gas (Brand and location). Run tank almost empty and fill with new stuff. Hope this helps.

Did you change the exhaust over the winter? My Viper always has a unique smell after the long winter storage. Your interior may need a good scrubb'in.

Its actually when I get on the gas. Or stick my nose around the tail pipe.

The smell creeps into the cab. Maybe its just how the car smells. It smells like carbon deposits that you get IN the exhaust pipes.

Maybe I just need to go stick my nose up some other vipers tailpipe and compare.

My car did smell like that when it was burning oil (watch your oil consumption), But I hope not.

Just jacking with you! I just cracked up when you said this post is silly. Has it been a while, or did you just put them on? It may just be your mufflers "burning in". I dunno.

They have been on for a couple of years. The car has all sorts of strange odors. Maybe its my a$$ but I know that smell too well.
