Hey, what do you recommend for those of us who have a significant other who also goes to road courses with you, and you want to bring up two cars without driving them down? Can you recommend a trailer that will hold a Viper and a Vette or a Viper and a BMW ?

For now, we will drive two separate cars down, but I kind of wanted to bring some extra gear, tires, etc. with me, hence the need for a trailer, and if I get a trailer, it would be best if we could bring both vehicles up at once so we can ride together on those long drives.

Any help would be appeciated.

That would be one heck of a trailer. We recently towed a 28' trailer from Florida to Kentucky and back, and while we didn't really have any major problems, that's a LOT of trailer -- and it wasn't big enough for two cars. My truck is pretty big (2500 heavy duty V10 Ram, 6870 lbs unloaded, our towing weight was over 14,000 lbs) and it was still a lot of work. In the mountains of Tennessee, we were definitely testing the limits of what the truck could handle. So for starters you'll need a 3500, and I imagine whatever trailer you find will be as much work with two cars as my experience was towing a single car in a well-stocked big trailer with a 2500 like that.

I'm assuming that you're asking because your budget doesn't allow for the really big trailers like the one below:

McGuireV10, Can this transport two cars? It seems it has a passenger compartment as well. Who makes these?

Actually, toter homes and trailers can be had for less than the price of a Viper if you shop used. SportsCar, SCCA's club magazine, always has some in the classifieds.

I use an Exiss two car enclosed aluminum trailer for my race cars. I have had my viper and supra in there with no problems, just gotta have the right setup inside the unit for a good fit.

This is a 40' Gooseneck which weighs 5300lb's dry, and that is what will settle exactly how well your truck is going to tow. For instance a comparable steel Haulmark trailer was going to weight 11,000 lb's. That is almost the weight of my trailer loaded with 2 cars. So you guessed it once again you get what you paid for.

The truck I tow with is a 3500 Chevy Duramax, does it with no problem. Hope this helps.

That truck in the pictures does not carry any cars. I have been looking for something like that with a lift gate to stack two cars but haven't found anything. If anyone comes across one, let me know.

Superbar,
We tow a 40" on the floor Featherlite enclosed trailer. 2 vipers fit in there nicely. The trailer is amazing - and light enough that we can do this with a 1 ton pickup.

If you are interested, we currently know if 2 trailers for sale set up very nicely for Vipers (i.e. tie downs and long ramp door, ++) and can put you in contact with some folks - may be time ot get a good deal - and a Featherlite will last forever and hold it's resale value very well.

Hope this helps.

Renegade makes a really nice totorhome and double stack trailer. You can see lots of them at viper days. There is a 25ft double stack that you could pull behind an Excursion. it will hold one Harley, two cars and one golf cart.

Check out site sponsor www.hhtrailers.com, as they make a gooseneck that will not
only carry two cars ,but has the cost and durability that few trailers can rival. The technology is new ( no rivets on the sides ) , and the cost is low due to their manufacturing area. They load well, and since the designer ( one of the 3 brothers who run the company ) is a former Viper owner, and says he will have another in the future, they understand what we are looking for. View the 20 reasons to buy an H & H Trailer, and you will see why so many folks are checking them out.
My favorite part about the one I bought , is that it has a patented vent system that keeps out the dust and moisture. The track we frequent the most is down a very dusty, dirt road, and I can attest that this vent functions as promised.
