2 New Z06 Records in 1/4 mile! - Corvette Forum

Very impressive if it is truly "100% Stock"

Im sure we will start hearing it from the vette guys if the new 08 doesnt break 10's with 90 more hp. Either way, its great to see from a American Car maker,
Im just wondering what these 11.0 and 10 sec Z06's are dyno'n?

10 second 1/4 mile time bone stock (including stock EMTs). American Muscle baby :usa: :headbang:

This car IS 100% stock. Jamie is a true car enthusiust (and GREAT driver) who owns a Ford GT and Porsche GT2. He drag races those cars also.

I am sure the 2008 Viper will get there too (or better). Only a matter of time.

It makes you wonder where the Corvette would be right now if the Viper had never been produced.

Competition is good for the breed.

Run some Vipers with density altitudes below zero (not sure what they were or if they were posted for his 10 second runs) and I would think you could achieve the same thing.

They still dyno in the 435-445 rwhp range. Simple math, 427ci in a 3100 car that is very aerodynamic. For comparison, I ran 11.19 back in 2000 with my 98 Pontiac Formula. It was 382ci, 440 rwhp, 3450 lbs and also a 6-speed. That was on drag radials, 1.80 60' times. The Z06 is 350 lbs lighter and makes more torque than my 382 did.

130MPH trap speed with stock motor? Sure...

Man, that's what gets me. Traction aside ET's vary like crazy but mph is a pretty consistent thing, to get 130 on a completely stock machine ... I'm not saying anyone is bending the truth, just that going 130mph bone stock must mean this car then is very very strong. I don't konw, I can buy almost any Et; gearing, driver skill, etc, but mph is weight & rwhp - a swing of 7mph is like 700 lbs or 80rwhp. But I guess anything is possible.

Either way it's a great time for US perf cars!
