I bought myself a new video camera for Christmas. I am trying to see what would be a good mount inside my car. I read some of the threads for the suction mount. I am not familiar with them other than my suction mount GPS falls off the windshield. Suggestions would be appreciated.

I actually tried that in my car that I use a Garmin GPS in and at first it seemd to work better than the windshield mount, but after a while it fell off of it too. It seems that extreme heat or cold makes the suction cup fall off of either surface.

No problem. Check with Sean Roe he sells them and introduced it to me. Unfortunately he ran out a month or so ago. He may have them stocked now.

Thanks for the info. I am going to order one of those.

Really cool. :headbang:

Sticky Pod.

Stickypod.com

I use their stuff for videos on exotics rallies and during races. Check them out, very affordable, and so far, very good. They have two, one for outside and one for inside for mounting a dash camera. Their suction cups are sticky as balls.

I have an extra stickey pod mount available ($99) and also 1 or two bullet cameras to mount on nose, or side of car to show track and suspension movement. ($130) if you might be interested.

Pretty cool set up. Give me a PM if interested, and I can send you additional information/pictures.

Gives really professional quality results.

That definitely is a cool setup but the gopro has many more mounting options. It is completely enclosed and can be mounted on the outside of the car. Is is even waterproof to 100 feet. It can also be mounted to a helmet. It is extremely versatile.

There is a new Video camera out called The Flip which is a tiny HD camera which bought for a family member. It is tiny and works great but still not as versatile as the gopro.

If someone is looking for a small multi purpose camera, i highly recommend it.

Flip Mino Camcorder - Mini Digital Camcorder | Flip Video

I did a lot of research, and I think I like this best:

Filmtools In-Car Windshield Camera Mount Gripper 115

It actually lets you pump out the air before final suction, and has a visual guide to tell you when it's about to lose grip (ie, air leak). Only $84, and will let me use my Canon HV20 HD camcorder (I took handheld footage with it that turned out great).

What is the gopro? As for mounting outside the car, I hope no one is doing that during any of my track days. I'd hate to see a camera come flying at my car!

The Flip Mino looks cool, but flash and HDD drive quality is not as good as miniDV due to compression. For comparison, 60min of HD video on miniDV tape is about 11.6gb. Similar to RAW vs jpg for those of you into digital photography.

Gopro is the name of the camera - same as the motorsport hero.

I understand the compression thing but beleive me the picture is amazing. it even takes video indoors with low light. The Flip is basically the same price as the gopro but each have thier own benefits. For an all out - attach anywhere, bring anywhere action camera, you cant beat the gopro. But for convenience and picture quality you are better off with the Flip.
