THE KING IS DEAD LONG LIVE THE KING!!

AFTER FIGHTING WITH D/C FOR OVER 3 WEEKS... FINALLY LAST WEEK I GAVE UP AND LET THEM PICK-UP THE VIPER AND TAKE IT TO THE CRUSHER..

WHILE I WAS TRYING TO SAVE THE CAR FROM BEING DESTROYED, DURING NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE HEAD D/C ATTORNEY THE ATTORNEY EXPLAINED THAT IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH ME OR THE VIPER. HE WAS VERY COOL HE EVEN APPOLOGIZED " I AM SORRY FOR ALL OF THE PROBLEMS WITH YOUR VIPER I KNOW ABOUT ALL OF YOUR TIME SPENT TRYING TO FIX THE CAR" ...

HE EXPLAINED THAT D/C CORPORATE HAS A SPECIFIC NUMBER OF CARS THAT THEY WILL LET BE RESOLD AS LEMON LAW BUY BACKS IN A GIVEN YEAR, UNFORTUNATELY THAT NUMBER HAS ALREADY BEEN EXCEEDED FOR 2005..

APPARENTLY 2004 WAS A VERY BAD YEAR FOR D/C LEMON LAW CARS AND THEY INTENTIONALLY PUSHED SOME OF SETTLEMENTS INTO 2005! THAT IS PROBABLY WHY THEY IMMEDIATELY OFFERED TO SETTLE 2 DAYS AFTER THEY WERE SERVED IN FEBUARY 2005..

MY ATTORNEY COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY D/C WENT SIDEWAYS ON A SETTLEMENT DEAL..

D/C HAD NEVER DISPUTED OUR CLAIMS AND THEY SAID THEY WANTED TO SETTLE IN NOVEMBER AND HAD AGREED TO PAY WHAT WE ASKED FOR, JUST $7,500 FOR 11 MONTHS LOSS OF USE AND REPLACE THE ENGINE. THEN FOR NO REASON D/C SUDDENLY CHANGED THEIR POSITION AND SAID SUE US!..

ULTIMATELY THEY PAID OUT HUGE MONEY! 10 TIMES THE SETTLEMENT OFFER..

THATS CORPORATE MENTALITY.. PAY HUGE SETTLEMENTS TO MAKE THE NUMBERS LOOK GOOD FOR THE STOCK HOLDERS "OUR RECALL AND LEMON LAW NUMBERS WENT DOWN BY 1% THIS YEAR" THEY NEVER DISCLOSE THE COSTS OR REAL NUMBERS.. CAN YOU SAY ENRON?

TO D/C A VIPER OR A MINI VAN IS JUST A UNIT OR A NUMBER, I GUESS THAT IT MAKES SENSE FOR A HUGE CORPORATION WITH MILLIONS OF VEHICLES.

THE D/C ATTORNEY TOLD ME TO FORGET MY GEN II VIPER "THAT THEY WOULD OFFER ME A GREAT DEAL ON A NEW SRT".. I THOUGHT YOU GUYS SAID D/C HATED ME?

FOR THE TIME BEING I WILL DRIVE MY SL55..IT IS ALMOST AS FAST AS THE VIPER BUT UNFORTUNATELY WAY TO HEAVY TO THROW AROUND IN THE TIGHT CANYON ROADS LIKE A VIPER..

I HAVE FLOGGED THE SL55 RACING A PORSCHE GT3 ( I BEAT HIM) AND THE TEMP NEVER WENT OVER 190 DEGREES..UNFORTUNATELY THAT WAS NEVER THE CASE FOR MY NOW CUBED VIPER..

IT IS ALSO AMAZING THE DIFFERENCE IN HOW D/C TREATS THEIR CUSTOMERS..

IN THE VIPER I WAS TREATED LIKE THE DODGE DEALER WAS DOING ME A GIANT FAVOR BY FIXING THE WARRANTY ITEMS IN MY $72K CAR.

A LOANER CAR? YEAH RIGHT!

WITH THE SL55 OR EVEN IN THE WIFES CLK ( $23K LESS THEN A VIPER) THEY OFFER YOU COFFEE, COLD DRINKS AND PASTRIES IN A WAITING ROOM WITH A PLASMA TV. PLUS A NEW MERCEDES AS A LOANER IF THEY NEED TO KEEP THE CAR FOR OVER 2 HOURS..

THEN WHEN YOU PICK UP YOUR CAR (WHICH IS FULLY WASHED) THEY TELL YOU ABOUT ALL OF THE THINGS THEY FOUND WRONG THAT WE NEVER COMPLAINED ABOUT AND FIXED AT NO COST..

THE WIPER BLADES, WORN TIRES AND A LOST REMOTE ARE ALL NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE MERCEDES DEALER DID NOT CHARGE US THE $640 AS A "GOOD WILL GESTURE"..

GOOD WILL AT DODGE?
I THINK I REMEMBER THERE WAS A VIPER TAX ON THE AIR THEY PUT IN THE TIRES AT THE DODGE DEALER?

I HAVE WATCHED AS THE GEN II PRICES ARE FALLING FAST.. I WILL PROBABLY WAIT UNTIL THE END OF SUMMER AND SAVE $4-5K THEN GET ANOTHER 2001 SAPPHIRE BLUE RT-10..

You have a crap dealer. We NY'ers get all that your MB dealer offers...and then some from Tator's Dodge.

What's the line on your getting another "lemon"? I've got $100 that says you do.

01SHAPPHIREGTS,

THE ATTORNEY SAID "I CAN OFFER YOU A GREAT DEAL ON A NEW VIPER"... I SAID THAT I AM NOT THAT IMPRESSED BY THE LOOKS OF THE SRT BUT LOVE THE WAY IT DRIVES AND I NEVER ASKED FOR THE DISCOUNTED PRICE..

THERE WAS DISCUSSION ABOUT THE OVERHEATING ISSUES THAT THE GEN I AND GEN II CARS HAD THAT WERE CORRECTED IN THE GEN III CARS..I ALSO SAID IF OR WHEN THEY BUILD ONE IN BLUE HE SHOULD CALL ME..

APPARENTLY D/C HAS HAD VERY LARGE RECALL AND BUY BACK NUMBERS ON THE GEN 1 AND GEN II VIPERS COMPARED TO THEIR LOW PRODUCTION NUMBERS..THE NUMBER OF WARRANTY REBUILT/REPLACEMENT ENGINES WAS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF NEARLY 30% ON THE EARLY CARS.. ..BUT DODGE (NOT D/C) WAS ALWAYS SATISFIED TO USE THE VIPER AS A DRAW AND LOSS LEADER TO GET PEOPLE INTO THEIR SHOW ROOMS..

DODGE WAS OF THE OPINION THAT A VIPER SITTING ON THE LOT (EVEN WITH A BLOWN ENGINE) WAS CONSIDERED A DRAW AND GREAT ADVERTISING..

Why don't you wait another 2 years. They should fall even further. LOL.

I have to say that for someone who seems interested in a Viper, and who has received suitable compensation (by your own accord) for a lemon, you should go right out and buy one. I don't get the point of your post.

Exactly. C'mon guys, it should be obvious to everyone by now, that EXECS view on things are, to say the least, a bit "odd", and he has repeatedly shown that he has no desire to get along with others in this forum.

So why then, does anyone even bother to respond to this persons endless verbal diarrhea?

Tough crowd!!!! I don't understand. If the Gen 1 and 2 are so bad and all overheat, etc., WHY do you want to buy another one of these "depreciating " fossels? It just seems odd to me. With such a bad experence, maybe M-B is the way for you to go, Plus the pastries. :p :p :p

I see ExecMalibu's caps lock key is still stuck. Oh well. Exec Malibu, the Mercedes may not be a Viper, but at least now you're driving a car with room to store your comb and little black book. :D
