The viper still looks better,there's no mistaking the shock factor or curb appeal.They say should run 11's and probably will with a good driver.Our vipers did that 10 years ago.I might consider buying one if the average person could tell the difference between em,and they get some 335 or better under there!
Glad to see vette's haven't given up the sports car fight!Tough getting your ass kicked year after year.I had vettes till I tried a viper one night on a highway roll.

Fastest car ever made by GM, over 190mph top speed, sub 12 second 1/4 mile, sub 4 second 0-60, 6 piston calipers up front, dry-sump. Damm, thats about a freekin race car! Those kind of specs are like as if we are talking about a Viper or something. With a lower price than a Viper, this car will sell well, ugly or not, and spread development costs over a higher model run.

ok mid 12's 1/4 mile but a handful of people have done mid 11's in a stock gen 2 and the vipers have always done over 190mph.

The Viper can do that or better with its current engine, if DC would "add lightness".

Stock vipers run 11's right? Well why complain about the ZO6 beating the new coupe. There is none it is a viper with a v-10. How many people are really gonna get a stock Z06 from GM? We don't know but I get the feeling a stock C6 with ZO6 parts is going to be easier and that's what most people are going to do. Build their own to there liking.

my son drive my srt/10 with me following him just so i could see what it
looked like going down the road. i had always and i mean always thought
the rt/10 was the best looking car from the rear going down the road. well
after driving behind the srt, wow it really is mean looking while moving.
now if both are parked sitting next to each other i would give the rt/10
the node, but watching while being driven, craig i think even you might and
yes might change your opinion alittle. ( again i said might ) do this and
let me know what you think then, i offer my car as the tester. then after
that craig i want to put you in the passenger seat. when you get out of that
seat i think you will sing a new tune, i would love to be the one to prove
this to you. to make it even better i'll pay to have a video cam on you
during the entire time your with me and it will record audio as well. so
craig there it is a chance for you to prove to all of us srt guys that when
you make your next remark about the car at least you can say you have been
in one to make such a informed opinion. hopefully when you respond to this
it has to deal with the subject manner as opposed to the grammer. to all

the people on the vette forums have to be rolling on the floor laughing at us over here, so worried about the new vette. we should all admit that GM has done a nice job with the car, not my choice at all but a nice job. Availability edge goes to the SRT-10 as you can buy it now instead of "magazine race" for the next year!

It's just my opinion but what else could be holding the car back from selling??? it has teh power, it has the brakes.. What's the problem?

Compare the SRT-10 to the GTS/RT and it is bland in my humble opinion. It is a stylish car when compared to everything else on the road but not to the "old" cars.

Craig. The problem with sales seems to be exactly the same as it was in 1995. In 1995 with only the RT/10 the Vipers were easy to find for under list price. That was the ONLY year the Viper was offered to employees of Chrysler for purchase with employee discount. You know why. They were not selling. Why. Because the raw, high performance roadster market was saturated. Same thing today. They can build more but the market did not increase accordingly. Thus the appearance of slow sales.

But remember, the SRT sales rate over the past 3 years is higher than for any other 3 consecutive years (even when adding GTS and RT/10 sales together). So what really occured was over production.

So given that, what kept the GTS from selling? 2002 was not a banner year for the sales rate either. Was it the car or the market?

I've driven an SRT, I know it's an impressive car, but the looks compared to a Z06 are so similar why spend the extra $$ on a Viper?

If I didn't think the car was attractive I wouldn't have spent the time to snap this pic...

The main emphasis that I was getting at was that I (along with many others) would perfer a new coupe to a ZO6. I've heard it many times from many viper owners that it's taken GM so long to produce a corvette that will keep up with a viper but remember it's not really a stock C6. It's a ZO6 being compared to a SRT-10/coupe. I wouldn't be surprized (especially with all the new concepts Chrysler is showing) that there will be some sort of ACR viper to compete with everything. I didn't mean to cause a stir or say anything stupid. I'm just being loyal and faithful to the company that I'm into the most.

I like all Vipers but only love 1..GTS..mho...SRT10 has grown on me and I could see myself buying one if I had the money..But it would be a practical decission instead of an emotional one..The GTS would be an emotional purchase..A picture is worth a thousand words....The GTS is just so much more **** looking...SRT has a Vettes wedge shape thats clearly evident in this pic...No bashing just mho...

Sure maybe in your very humble and biased opinion you don't think the SRT is bland Tom but get over it, not everybody likes the Gen3 Vipers. Sure yours is faster, handles better, better brakes, has ABS, A/C, hell it probably even has vibrating massage seats for those long drives but who cares? Not me. Let people have their own opinions about cars and be done with it.

Okay, takes some time to put that roof down though doesn't it?

But, as many here agree, the RT/10 and GTS were home runs in the styling department. The SRT is "merely" a triple. Not deserving of criticism, but without the same overall potential. But, unlike the RT/10, the SRT can go beyond 150 mph and keep the back end planted. So it seems that performance had a higher relative priority with the SRT.

I feel there is NO bad viper EVER in fact one day I want to own 1 of every model.

IMO then gen 2 RT is the best looking car hands down with the top OFF of course but if your going to leave the top on I would say the GTS looks better.
