i just got my viper back with a rebuilt motor. lately after about a 20 minute drive the car starts to sound like a wrx. but if i shut the car off and turn it on the problem goes away. but it comes back on after about 20-30 intervals. I been told its due to a bad coil pack or the ignition control module. the dealer said its from a bad o2 sensor. any input woud be appreciated.

thanks in advanced

They forgot to mention injectors.

Pull the spark plugs and change them. Get the a/f checked. Get a mechanic's Stethascope and listen to each injector to make certain that they all 'click' the same. Change the front 02 sensors first. Then the plugwires. If airfilters are dirty, change them.

Is the rebuilt motor the same engine? different cam? different injecotors? compression?

Explaining Viper things to you
Wouldn't a bad O2 sensor throw a code? And since you don't mention that can we assume you don't have any codes? Or does OBD1 throw codes?

Also, how about the fuel filter and fuel pressure? Checked them?

the car starts to sound like a wrx.

Perhaps they installed the wrong engine ? :omg:

There might be one very surprised WRX owner in town !

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. I've never heard a WRX, so I have nothing constructive to say; but, good luck!
