Intelman34-No flames here. I can gaurantee you that in person, my car sounds like no other car out on the road. I agree that it has a higher pitch to it, kind of like a super bike with racing pipes but alot louder and deeper. I'm trying to get my car taped to post it kicking @ss down the road-hopefully here in a few days. Have you even heard a Viper with an aftermarket exhaust in person? In all honesty, I think you would retract your statement if you heard my car in person.
-Take care!

Brandon,

It is a side effect of the V-10. It simply does not sound like a V-8. It even suffers a bit when compared to a V-12 because there are an odd number of cylinders on each side.

Once you get it loud enough I love the sound. You are correct that it does not sound like the million V-8's running around and that is alright with me. The Viper is nothing if not unique!

I actually agree. My Viper does not sound as "mean" as some of the big block Chevys of yore. I think the pitch of the V-10 is closer to a Ferrari V12 or Maserati V8 than the typical American V8. Further, my favorite sounding engines are still large displacement V8s (e.g. 383, 454, etc.)!

I don't know about anybody else but my snake sounds like a freakin' Indy car at WOT.

Two reasns you don't get the same rumble as a Hemi or Rat motor is the odd (5) number of cylinders in each bank and the V shaped engine is at 90 degrees instead of 74 degrees.

This is a big problem for me when I had the matching Red/Silver Viper and Red/Silver Ram. I custom ordered the Ram with a V10 (a Sport model, which was REAL hard to find!) - and when I finally found a cusomt exhaust for the truck, buy I was disappointed. Sounds almost "tin-ny", nothing like the V-8s.

I was told it was the number of cynliders and a side effect of a V10 - that you just dont get the rumble of a V8.

After that I was always bummed about towing the hot Viper with a truck that didn't sound like it had much Ooompf....
