I'm getting ready to replace the plugs/wires and was wondering what you kind folks recommend. The car is pretty much stock, except for smooth tubes, K&N, and a Corsa catback. Other than removing the catalytic converters, it is going to stay that way for a while.

So should I just get the OEM parts or something better? And where is a good place to buy them at a reasonable price? THANKS!

Stay with stock Champions for the plugs. If you aren't interested in dressing up the engine compartment, stock plug wires are also fine. For aftermarket, most people go with MSD or Magnecor.

Stock champions and plug wires. Blue plug wires resulted in radio static in my (and others') car.

I had MSD wires in my previous Mustangs. They were a nice product and worked well. Where's a good place to get a set of MSD wires for the Viper?

Definetely stay with the originals! Tried the blue Mopar wires and the radio became more useless than it already is. According to the wizard there is a negligable performance upgrade with them.

What about the MSD wires though?

Sort of off-topic, but the reason I like MSD wires is because in my Mustang, I had radio interference until I switched to MSD wires, and never had interference again.

Magnecor from Jon B.The red color matches the engine paint. They are supposed to be lifetime. No radio problems at all.Yes every once in a while I do turn it on to get the weather or something.Other than that I would get a lot more use out of a beer dispenser. GTS Bruce

Anaconda: I checked Summit Racing's website and found the MSD Spiral 8.5mm set at $81.88 , and the Taylor Spiro-Pro 8mm set at $57.39 . Both manufacturers are a "custom" set which means they are all ready assembled and are made to the correct factory lengths.

I always enjoy assembling my own wire sets to achive the "fit" that I am happy with, but the sets above are probably simplier for most people. If assembling wire sets yourself, it is very helpful to have an assembly tool, which is around the same price as the wire set.

I have not replaced wires on my car yet, so I don't have any real world experience on this paticular car, but I have used the Taylors on several other performance applications with great success. I worked at Summit for almost 8 yrs, and sold both manufacturers, and just wasn't that impressed with the MSDs. I like their ignition amplification products, but did not like their wires... OEM are the best for performance.

During the Viper FIA/LeMans/ALMS racing days their motors were built by CDI. I had CDI build a motor for me and we discussed using different spark plug wires. CDI claimed that the stock wires performed better than any after market wires they evaluated. But some of the after market wires look very nice.

Just went through this on my project Viper ... and the blue Mopar performance wires are going on my display engine, while stock wires and plugs are going on my Viper.

It was a simple decision, I asked Doug Levin what he would rec: Stock plugs and wires. Then I called Nancy Shanno at Woodhouse Dodge (to order Doug's rec), and while on the phone asked what Bob used on his racing Viper..... stock plugs and wires. Two for Two, good 'nough for me :)

I have MSD wires and have no radio static. I picked up my wires and plugs from RSI here in Houston.

What about stock wires and Iridium plugs? Platinum plugs? ANyone tried these? Isn't copper plugs old technology?

Mark - I bought the west coast viper wires and have no radio noise at all but I don't know anything about plug wires so I can't tell you whether they are better than the others. You may want to ask Heffner as he installed them for me last spring. I'll let you check them out at our first meet this spring if you show up.
