126mph from a basically stock gen 2 ??
Was my first run with the car at Atlanta way back when, I have the time slip somewhere , it was over 13. et, I remember asking the time shack girl, the time better be in the 12's, (none of my vettes ever did what the magazines said), & she said sorry , but your gonna love the MPH. I had huge wheelspin in first & second. So I credit that speed with being in top gears longer due to hitting rev limits in the front end of the run (sort of like running a throttle stop on a carb car) Eventually it got down to 12.4 that day with less than 1000 miles on odometer (the next week it was at road atlanta doing a Lotus V8 vs other super cars test private test, but thats another story).
Obviosly an anomoly, like that 1.798 60 ft time this week but and running the same ETs in 3rd as I did in 4th, Prior to tuesday my best 60 ft ever was 1.890, but most are in the 1.9's with my best ET. Then again , with the pilots I have never launched over 2k, mostly 1500 to 1750. On the Khumos it was actually bogging at 2k, that 1.7 60 was a 3k launch & still no spin in 2nd. That was at 27 lbs PSI. I usualy ran the pilots at 19 to 22 lbs.
I just went through a batch of time slips through 1999, I'll keep looking for those & would love to compare 1/8 & 1000 ft times on that run. I know I have them & the VOI in vegas from 99 somewhere. Now I must find them!
My major focus in those days was Road racing & Draging was an off weekend fun, But since I got sick in 2007, Drag racing has been my new therapy & its amazing how much science is involved, I have been running full time for about 2 years now & applying my successful road racing techiques to braket racing has been an interesting challenge. But made the NHRA Division 2 finals in year 1, Mainly on luck.
My road racing pals laughed & thought there is nothing to it but going straight. I had one of them run my all season tired SRT8 300 one day, His best was a a 14.1 with a fab .008 reaction time, I got in & did a 13.3. he couldnt believe it.
