IMO - the hood is way overvented / overdone on a street car.

and I am not sure I like the proportions of the batmobile bubbles....

Overall rating - swing and a miss.

It is interesting. You see someone put so much time and effort into something of which they are (rightfully) proud, and you are left with "do I tell them how I feel they missed the target or politely compliment them and hope that they will note the miss on their own."

The first thing I was struck with is the taking of the well designed louvers and adding more. It is no longer a vented hood; it appears a porous hood.

Thunderbird, many years ago, had the same rear deck treatment. I remember wondering "why would they do that."

In this case, the car has been reworked in a very non-Viper style.

It feels badly to not be supportive of so much energy invested, but perhaps the designer can use that knowledge base to create something a bit more in sync with the body lines.

Thanks for putting your effort into the hobby.

I like the bubbles. I think they are great. I'll be ordering.

I do agree with Janni on the hood though. There seem to be too many vents and the vents break up the flow of the hood.

CAN THERE BE SUCH A THING? OVERVENTED??????

I would think that the s/c cars would love this overvented hood.

I kinda like the bubbles, but just not sure completely. Kind of on the bubble you might say (ha-ha, I know that's corny) as to whether I like or not really. They are reminiscent of classic Alfa Romeo's, the Ferrari 250TR and even the modern Ferrari 360 Spyder.

The hood is too busy for my taste. It was perfect before.

Hey Viper D,

As a fellow paxton SRT-10 owner, I love the hood. It's cool out now, but thinking about summer, cruising with the supercharger, this may help with the heat.

It is very easy to be a critic. That said I think it is the proportions of the bubbles that are not as aesthetic as they could be. I think rather than being sized similar to the roll hoops and seats if they were wider that it would look better.

I think there are some car examples that can be referenced for different proportions. With wider bubbles I think I would like the look overall. The side view would be more like an RT/10 (and of course more batmobile as well).

It would also seem like this could be fitted such that it would be like a hard tonneau, like a vette except that it could not be stowed under the soft top (I presume).

Am I the only one that thinks the Speedster Bubbles make the SRT-10 look like the Batmobile?
The additional venting in the hood is a good idea, it just isn't aesthetically pleasing.

I had hoped DC would release the Carbon Fiber hood for production. :2tu:

Brian:

Bat Mobile or T'bird with Lay-Z-Boy seats. One thing is certain, while neither hood nor bubbles appeal to me, many apparently like them.

I would like to see cost effective carbon fiber parts widely available. What is missing in the aftermarket is competition. Few dealers to serve the needs of owners.

I think they both look great. Can someone photoshop the car so we can see what it would look like in other colors, preferably silver. That thing looks like the new F430.

I agree. I'd like to see them flared out a bit to cover the sport hoops. I think that they may look too thin from a straight rear shot. Helluva idea though.

These covers just pop on or off with a latch on each side, takes about 30 seconds fro one person.

If it helps protect the soft top from sun damage, and looks pretty cool, and unlocks with a key hole latch on each side in seconds, and stows in the trunk, I bet sooner or later alot of people will buy one. I saw it in person, and it is a good design. Kudos to the people who build things in this country so people have a choice of buying it or not. I'm still waiting for the 2006-2007 Coupe though. ;-)

I wonder how a red car with the black bubble would look?

It is too large to fit in the trunk, we opted to make the sides wrap around over the hinges to give the piece a completely finished look, it will however fit neatly in the passenger side if you get caught in a torrential downpour! :)

I think I like the hard tonneau versus the double bubble. How much?

Cris,

Flat tonneau cover is $995.00 , add 300 for paint or paint it yourself. It weighs only a few pounds and looks great on the car as well.

thanks

Viper D,

Since no one took this one, I will. The blue over the brake light is painter's tape. It's similar to the tape that you can use for painting hard to reach areas in a house for example. Its easy on and protects whatever it covers as its non porous.
