For one the ZR1 doesn't have a blown 427.

From that group, I'd say the ZR1 will be more collectible in the future. Even though I like the ACR a little better. Why? Because the ACR has an identical powertrain and HP rating as the base Viper. Had Dodge bumped it up a bit, that would put the ACR higher on the collector list, IMHO.

Exclusive engines have proven to be more collectible than anything. The ZR1 has an exclusive engine to itself. Same with Hemi Mopars, Boss 429 Mustangs, 454 Chevelles, etc...

They will probably make more "limited edition versions" of all the other cars listed than the entire year's production for the Viper (what 1579 Vipers and 179 ACRs).

Sports car Market recently did an article on the Viper and its collectibility. Decent article, just a bit mis-informed. When I found the poll this AM, there were 159 total Votes and ACR was 19%. Now there are 520+ votes, and ACR is at 63%

That's a Ford GT 500 KR...not a Ford GT. Sorry if this offends someone, but have you seen the Ford GT 500 KR, it's crap. It is an 80K car that has stickers for stripes, it is barely more of a car than a GT 500 (and thats not so special either...look on eBay, there are plenty to be had). Shelby and Ford are just cashing in on the collectibility of the original.

When I bought my Ford F450 King Ranch the dealer said they would make me a great deal on any of their "Shelbys".

Let's face it! The car that should be in that poll is the Ford GTas it will be the most collectible followed by the Vette. I absolutley love the ACR and think it is a much better car, but the majority of the North Americna public is Vette crazy hence there are more people viaing for the same product driving up demand, so it will be the ZR1 over the ACR.

In car collecting, there are many variables. Unfortunately, the "best" car is not always the one worth more in the future for collectibility. Collecting is like fine wine. It needs just the right conditions, a little bit of luck, lots of demand and all about timing.
