My 2001 GTS ACR hasn't even arrived here yet and already I am thinking about upgrading the brakes!
Sounds like the best choices are Stop Tech, Brembo, and The Brake Man.
What are the pros and cons?
Information = power! :laugh:
Thanks.

Learn to drive the car with it's current brakes - your ABS system is far better than non-ABS systems (more rear brake) before you spend money on upgrading. Earlier cars were upgraded mostly to get more balanced, read - more rear - braking, and your 2001 already accomplished that with dynamic proportioning.

The 2003 would be prohibitively expensive to replicate on your 2001 and still won't accomplish the 2003 braking distances.....

lleone,
I meant that the reason earlier cars needed upgrading was to get more rear brake / better balance... and that the 2001's did this with dynamic proportioning....

I'm sure the ********* track guys are still going to upgrade the stock brakes on the SRT-10 with StopTech, Dillusi, etc. - so stock calipers will be available at a reasonable cost.

Does anyone know if the mounting points/hardware is the same as a Gen II??

These are the same brakes as on the Comp Coupe, just different pad's I believe. I only think upgrading these brakes will do is lighten your wallet.

Janni or ???

Is there a proven method of increasing rear bias? My Stoptechs up front feel way too powerful vs. the stock rears...I want to even it up...

Any Ideas?
Stock fronts >>> Rear?
Any adjustments possible?

Curious what people have done.

The Stoptech front wheel brake upgrade actually DOWNSIZES the pistons to accomplish the increase in proportion of the rear brake. You could try pulling the o-ring from your proportioning valve to up the rear brake.

Tom,
Your analysis sounds like it applies to a stock brake setup.
I was wondering what to do to add rear bias to a 2000 GTS with a stoptech 2 wheel brake system. Am I right?

Removing the O-ring might be my starting spot...
