The ride home from Florida was awesome. The tremac trans rattles like a *****, but i knew that already, LOL. I love the way the car snorts, growls,and runs.
Driveline backlash LOL, the whole package is great. I was confy, this guy had a custom exhaust wrapped in some kind of high density tape. No heat in cabin what so ever. Car is fast, but not quite as fast as my ZO6. Both putting out about 600HP. Gotta get used to the clutch in the viper, love how tough it is to engage. ***** in traffic, but oh well. Both cars are awesome, viper gets a lot more looks, and the seats are great compared to the vette.Shifting the viper at high rpms, it almost feels like the shifter is comimg out of the car, moving all over the place. Its crazy.
ZO6 for the track
SRT for the dinner dates.
Love them both.

A z06 is just a vette to most of the driving poulation..Thats why im in a srt and not a Z06..

a 1992 rt10 will likely get more attention than a ZR1 during daily driving

true. In the end it's all about what you like. I would never buy a ZR1 simply because I couldn't spend that kind of money on a totally ubiquitous looking car. I mean the ZR1 isn't oversaturated in its market presence, but truthfully it looks just like a regular vette from a distance. Most people would just think it's a normal vette with a window in the hood lol. And forget about the Z06.

That is actually the one reason I didn't want a Porsche. They just look dated. I mean I've read boatloads about them and I have heard people gush about them forever but I can't buy something that just doesn't seem unique for a fun car.

Glad you're enjoying it. Two things: my clutch is not hard to engage at all - it is very smooth, nor does my Tremec rattle. The whole driveline feels very good. My car has 23,500 miles.

Correct, stock C6 Z06 is 505hp/470 lb-ft.

Both the cars have been cammed, with head work.Yes both cars came with 500.
It is a 2003 SRT by the way.The car had head work and a cam package in it, that probably has something to do with everything. Just have to get used to it, i guess. Both great cars.And billion dollar dan, your opinion on the ZO6 would change if you took a ride in my car. Its a monster, period.

Change the rear gear in the Viper and you would loose all remaining intrest in the Vette.

Definitely true since I own both. I can't tell you how many times the ACR has been photographed and the ZR1? Twice, including a guy in a 90's Camaro yesterday.

Somewhat incorrect on hp ratings. The Society of Automotive Engineers changed the way vehicle horsepower was rated , so one saw some changes in vehicle output. The Corvette went from 500 to 505 , the Viper from 500 to 510, whereas vehicles like the Honda Civic Si ( claiming 200 hp ) dropped to 197. There seemed to be some drops in claims from the Asian manufacturers and gains with most American builders.

Hence 2003 Vipers through 2006 , are all at 510 with the new standard.

Saw your comment about rear gears. Just bought a 2003 and, for all practical purposes, 6th gear is useless. I like the car but I think I can see a 3.73 gear in my future. Gears make more sense to me than turbocharging or other engine mods. At least gear changes are what we used to do in the old days and with 6th gear being .5 overdrive it makes sense. What is the cost of doing that? Ball park figure is good.

Figure roughly $400 for the gears (I purchased mine from Unitrax) and $500-600 for the install. If you can get it done for less - be happy.

With the 3.55's (I put them in my '06 and my current '08), 6th gear is useable at 55mph.

Your correct about 6th gear. Even after 1300 mile ride, i bet less then 200 were in 6th gear. Gotta love 1500rpms at 80mph though.
