Hi,
I have always loved the Viper. It is a quintessential American muscle car, not sophisticated but dazzling with its aggressive lines and sound.
Here are some questions and I would appreciate the insights:

Here are some things friends have said:

1) The car is not comfortable you can't drive it for more than 50 miles.

2) The car is dangerous, you will crash it.

3) It doesn't handle well on corners, only on straight lines.

My Questions :

4) What should I pay for a 1 gen car?

5) How easy is it to find one with red leather interior?

6) What are some of the problems?

7) Any RT-10 owners in the SF Bay area who might want to give me a ride for lunch?

My plan is to get something end of this year or beginning 2016.

Just today I was driving down the free way and a black viper flew by in another lane(I was doing about 70) and I couldn't help but look over a number of time.

--thanks

1) Not true. How tall are you?

2) Cars are not dangerous, drivers are. Be careful and be smart.

3) So did the earlier Porsche 911's. What's their point? Are you going to cruise in it or track it?

My Questions :

4) What should I pay for a 1 gen car? According to what I have read here, high 20's to high 30's.

5) How easy is it to find one with red leather interior? Doesn't exist.

6) What are some of the problems? Air in cooling system, injectors, head gaskets, almost everything a regular car will need as maintenance. Engine is bullet proof in my opinion.

I like the attitude regarding picking new friends, however if I start rejecting friends because they have flaws I would have no friends, because all my friends have one or more flaws :)

Answering my questions is also appreciated.

ViperRed,
Thanks for addressing each question. I'm 5' 8''

In regards to #5 I did see one on ebay for sale which had red leather pretty awesome. I'm fine with any interior color as long as the outside is black. Since I already have a couple of red sports cars adding a 3rd though tempting is not something I want to do.

I have a black Gen II RT/10 with a cognac interior and at times come down to 95129 having recently built a home in Saratoga, that may well have been me you saw. I'm going to be down on the 4th but will not be taking the Viper, if you want to keep in touch by PM I'll be glad to give you a ride next time I'm down.

Here are some things friends have said:

1) The car is not comfortable you can't drive it for more than 50 miles. False

2) The car is dangerous, you will crash it. You do need to be careful. Many have been crashed on the way home from the dealer. This is true with any high performance car.

3) It doesn't handle well on corners, only on straight lines. Total BS

My Questions :

4) What should I pay for a 1 gen car? You get what you pay for, spend as much as you can and get the nicest one you can. Plenty of cheap junk Vipers out there. The quality cars are far and few between. Take your time and find one of them.

5) How easy is it to find one with red leather interior? Probably not easy. They all came with black or that brown. Must go custom Venzano.

6) What are some of the problems? No real shortcomings. They are pretty bulletproof cars and very easy to fix when compared to some others. I think some of the older cars had water pump issues but cannot think of anything else now. Oh, and real early had head gasket issues. This is why I say spend as much as you can and get the newest and best RT10 you can.

Now is the time to buy. I think people are going to realize what an awesome car these cars are soon and they will go up in value. They designed it to mimic the old Cobra's and I think they did an awesome job.

7) Any RT-10 owners in the SF Bay area who might want to give me a ride for lunch?

My plan is to get something end of this year or beginning 2016.
