How much difference is there between a 2000 "Steel Grey" Viper and a 2002 "Graphite" ?

More specifically if I bought either one of these, let's say the Steel Grey, that didn't come with the removable hard top.............. then I bought the other Graphite color removable hard top to put on the Steel Grey car (confused yet  ) , how much color difference would you see?

Thanks Again.

The colors are not even close when put together. ...Plus the steel gray changes color some depending on sky / sun conditions. In an overcast sky..or dusk...steel gray turns a distinctive gun metal blue. In bright sunlight, it is much lighter than graphite.

As stated above, steel grey changes changes under different lighting conditions and is all around a beautiful color and pictures do not do it justice and i was pleasantly surprised when mine arrived. Pictures are an understatement to its beauty.

I even like the Red and Yellow Vipers, but prefer the striped cars!

I personally like the Graphite a lot more. The Steel Gray is pretty but in the sun looks very purple.

Just the opposite....in the sun the car looks light gray...like the pic above. the darker the sky / less sun...the darker the color gets. It can also look dark gray....closer to graphite. It very well may be the most unique of the one year colors.

For us steel gray guys....the hue is 'gun metal blue'...not purple

Dunno about that Steve, Deep Sapphire Blue/Pearle Blue is between Black and irridescent med Blue. I think that a couple of the new colors like Crystal slate and SSG are pretty much out there as well. I think all of the Viper colors are heavy metallics. Even the Reds turn PINK under many camera flashes. It's one of the reasons we like all the Vipers so much isn't it?

OK Ted.... I admit to some bias :)....but I did say MAY BE....not IS. Sapphire Blue is nice, but not for me. SSG is a good one, but not a one year color. The slate was nice and fits the one year criteria I think.

I should also have said 'many' steel gray guys like the gun metal blue color. We have friends with a steel gray who would much prefer to call it purple when it changes to it's darker color.

If I'm not mistaken, the Steel Gray paint is a tri color pearl mix...which allows for the subtle color change. I'm not aware of any other Viper color with such a distinctive change under various lighting conditions. I guess that's the uniqueness I was referring to.

I gotta agree with Steve - I just recently purchased a 2000 Steel Gray and I have had a lot of people comment on how it seems to turn "Blue" depending on the light - no-one has ever mentioned "Purple" - maybe it depends on the environment but I certainly see the blue tint rise up on it.

I too am biased, the Steel Gray GTs pictured above is mine. Bought it new in 2000. I had a blue GTS before this one. I get lots of compliments on this car. I also have noticed that in certain light it takes on a "goldish" hue as well.

Here's a pic of a steel gray ACR I was looking at a while back... It really looked purple to in some of the pics but I never did get to see it in person.

The Crystal Slate Metallic changes dramatically in different light also - I've been told blue, dark green, slight purple, "almost black" it's impossible to photograph and completely awesome! You'll probably love whatever shade of gray you end up with... even the reds and yellows know that gray is the fastest! :D
