Has anyone experienced the steering wheel cover ( horn ) becoming very tacky or sticky?. This happened on my '05 Comm. Ed. and now it starting to happen on my 2010 coupe. I had to replace the cover on my '05 which necessitated buying the entire air bag assy. to get a new cover.

Can this be taken care of without buying a new air bag assy?? Any help would be appreciated. I live in Sarasota Fl. where the humidity is very high for at least 6 months of the year. Thanks--Dave

Viper Pit--
Not sure how to send you a message other than to reply to your post. I'm all ears as to how to deal with this other than replace the entire deal which I did on my 2005 Comm. Ed Viper. It's expensive to do that--hoping you can help--Dave

Hi, I had a couple of spots on the air bag cover of my '02 GTS. We're you ever able to rectify the issue?

The replys I get refer to using heavy duty Easy Off oven cleaner, spray on, wipe off several times and the sticky plasticizer will come off. There is apparently no damage to the cover--grain is still intact. I'll try this on the cover that I removed on my '05 when I replaced the entire air bag assy. which is the only way to get a new cover. I'll let you know the results.

Thanks, I will be interested in your results. I don't have a spare airbag assembly so I'm curious to see how you make out.

Hello, did anyone try the oven cleaner yet? Did it work? I’ve got a terribly sticky wheel on my ‘04

I have not tried it, but I would definitely wait to hear back from someone who has! Easy Off original is caustic, I used it back in the day to remove the clear coat from the lip of my ‘84 911‘s rims before I polished the bare aluminum.
