Hi for the first time I will have to store my SRT for 4 months (winter time in Montreal).

What do you suggest?

Is it OK if my garage is at 60 F and 30% humidity.

Are the run flat capable to endure 4 months without flat spot?

Any sugestions to keep it in perfect shape?

Thank you

P.S. I already have a battery tender

Thank you for your reply, maybe you can indicate me where is the ADVANCE search button, because prior to my question I read everything on the Gen 3 forum with the word ``storage``.

And with the regular search button I didn’t find anything concerning the heat or humidity suitable for storing a car, this is my principal concern. On the forum it’s clear that the worst enemy seems to be the condensation. Here in Montreal we have a very cold winter and the garage is not as hot as the house, so yesterday I purchased a Hygrometer (Provide current room humidity level) and a dehumidifier. I thought that maybe someone might know a percentage that is acceptable.

Concerning the tires, someone asked:

Another fact regarding long term storage of the SRT 10 with our run flats. I believe the manual tells you to place all your tires on plywood that has been covered with carpet. This is suppose to prevent flat spots if the car is not moved for long periods of time. Anybody else aware of this or had flat spot tire problems?

The only answer he got was:

As far as tires are concerned I always jack the back of the car up after every use until the tires clear the ground as this takes the weight off of the rear suspension. This would be a good idea for winter storage for both the front and the rear.

Do I have to absolutely Jack it, to avoid flat spot on a 4 month period?

So if Chuck or someone else has more details, your answers are welcomed.

Why not start the car twice a month, drive out and back into the garage, keeps you from having to jack the car up.

Plus you can put your car in "sleep mode" to save the battery and you won't even need a battery tender.

60f and 30% humidity > Perfect!
Tires > Inflate to 40psi and place a piece of carpet under each tire!
Battery tender > Good idea!
Fill the gas tank full!
Start it once a Months and let it come up to temp [fan cycle once].
Cover for vehicle also good.

That's what my "search button" came up with! Try typing in english? ;)

I would not worry about flat spots on the tires if you inflate the tire to 40PSI or greater like the other members have pointed out. I would also roll the car forward and back to different locations on the tire at least once a month.

I have my car on 1/2 inch plywood and 1/4 high compression insulation which is much better then carpet.

Now.....if you have condensation or humidity in the garage you might have a more serious problem to worry about like :

Poor insulation value
No vapour barrier or vapour barrier reversed
Poor air circulation . Is the ceiling heated? . Do you have air vents on top of the roof?
Perhaps your baffles are sealed.

I have my garage heated at 60 degrees and she is very free of humidity. Then again I am in the insulation business and proper installation is key to free any enviroment of stale air or humidity.

Short of that install a proper de-humidifer for the square footage area of your garage.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for your advice.

I put more pressure in the tires, will put the plywood and 1/4 high compression insulation.

Patrick You are a pro because a technician came today an effectively the baffles are sealed. We are looking for a solution. Unfortunately my humidity change from 29% to 37% I don't know why and my de-humidifier is not starting under 40%. I will try to find an other model or do you think that level is still acceptable?

Hey CHUCK I will need to improve my English, thanks for the reply.

Viperbilliam, not yet but you're right, maybe it has good info.

Yes...........I thought as much. If you PM me with the details I will try my best to help in a resolution. Could also be a water problem. Condensation=water somewhere.
