What is the preferred supercharger system for the Gen II? I looked at Roe and see that they are out but will put you on a list to accumulate enough names to make another run profitable, before I call them I thought I'd ask if there is anything better out there?

Another question is that I've got an older Roe PCM with a serial port in it, apparently I have to replace it with a more advanced model and wonder if I should stick with Roe?

Try a Procharger

Procharger doesn't make a kit for the Viper. And those that have had custom made kits have had problems with snapping crank snouts. That's the primary reason I've never bothered having custom brackets made to run an F-1x.

Your other option is the Paxton. And it is a tried and true, easy to install, time tested blower kit. It's what I run on my car and I love it (other than the fact that I've now found the limits of the power it will make).

I'd go Paxton...Roe hasn't made a supercharger in years and as others have said he likely won't, I've had my name on that list you mentioned for about 2 years now. If you do want a Roe they come up for sale used but not frequently so you have to be ready to buy quickly.

Justin does a great job

Jeff:

Apparently Paxton isn't California smog legal, what about Procharger, is it certified for California smog? Or are any for that matter?

This seems incredible:

Procharger said:
Single pump fuel system good to approximately 650 – 700 whp, includes upgraded fuel pump and injectors.

Dual Pump Fuel System good to approximately 900-1000 whp, includes upgraded fuel pumps, upgraded feed and return lines, a pressure regulator, fuel filter, fuel pressure gauge, powdercoated billet fuel rails and 660cc injectors. Completely new fuel system, nothing reused except for the gas tank.

Triple Pump Fuel System good to approximately 1300-1500 whp, includes upgraded fuel pumps, upgraded feed and return lines, a pressure regulator, fuel filter, fuel pressure gauge, powdercoated billet fuel rails and 1000cc injectors. Has upgraded fuel pump and injectors over Dual Pump System. Completely new fuel system, nothing reused except for the gas tank

I know the fuel pump requirements, I have a MagnaCharger on my Hummer H2 and at some point the increased flow fuel pump went out, I took it to my mechanic and he replaced it with a factory pump, after a while I started getting detonation so I called Magnussen and replaced it with their increased flow pump.

According to paxtons web site, they do have some models that are CARB exempt. Might be worth a call and see if the one your interested in is OK

Are Paxton Supercharging systems emissions legal?

Most of Paxton's complete supercharging systems (not tuner kits) are 50-state smog legal, meaning that they have been granted an exemption by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). In some cases we are unable to obtain a CARB exemption even for complete systems, which are not smog legal in California ("off-road" use only). If you are unsure whether the system you wish to purchase is legal in your state, please call Paxton or your local dealer for more information. Custom supercharger installations and tuner kits are never eligible for CARB exemption.

I like the Paxton kit, having worked with them on the development of the package years ago. It is CARB approved for the Gen 2 and can be upgraded quite a bit (depending on your year model). I have done about 80 of these kits, so I can offer good advice if you go that route.

I'm having a hell of a time getting my paxton viper smogged in CA. It passes everything but the visual. Any recommendations on turning it back stock. Otherwise I gotta sell it out of state.

It is ironic to me that everything cool for cars seem to come out of CA but they are the worst place to actually use a cool car :dunno:

What do you mean by "visuals"? My car is at the tuner's now and he's put some superchargers on, I don't know what kind, but maybe he has a smog shop here in the East Bay that will certify them.
