I need to get in contact with a good traffic violation/speeding ticket lawyer in Syracuse, NY area.
I have to go to court, no fines given (yet...)

Please send me any recommendations by e-mail or PM.

Thanks Adam for e-mailing me. I will look into those possibilities.

Does anyone know if tickets issues in NY affect (carry over) to Pennsylvania insurance and points system?
Thats where my licence is. (at least as long as I can keep it?)

I don't know for sure if NY tix reach PA's DOT computers but, unfortunately, they probably do. I have been ticketed in places like Idaho and Montana and within days, they show up in Illinois' system. One of the downsides of the US's IT infrastructure.....

It could be that challenging the ticket in the state of issue prevents it from immediately showing up. I have done this and achieved a positive result but I'm not sure why. It may be that the "normal" (unchallenged) information pathway is efficient where the secondary (challenged) route may be more manual and prone to omissions or bureaucratic errors.

Worth a try. Good luck with it.

Lauri, I think the answer to your question is yes. Although I do not know to what extent. A friend of mine unfortunately got a DWI in Nassau county NY and within the week his Pa licence was pulled.
Good luck and I hope all turns out well.

?? Ilive on the border of NY and PA and get pulled over all the time in NY and the tickets have yet to show on my PA license. A DWI is more than a ticket, it is a crime that is why his license got pulled. I read somewhere than by mid 2005 the states will be able to share records, a few are doing it now (CT and Mass.) but I am pretty sure NY and PA are not.

Thanks for all personal e-mails and replies.
I will first contact a lawyer in PA who can clarify wheather the points will transfer or not into PA.

After that I will decide if there will be a battle in the courtroom or not with a NY lawyer.

Thanks again, good news is that with my new rearaxle ratio (3,55) Viper will not be half as fast as it used to be...

By the way, I ordered a Valentine 1.8 yesterday, ****** Solo did not even beep... And the ****** is now somewhere inbetween Canadian border and Guelph. (and propably still not beeping..)

Side by side test during the One Lap of America this year in my car. Co Driver brang his ****** solo, vs my V1. Never heard the ****** go off even when the V1 was on steady alarm 30 feet from radar. Numerous times with all types of radar this occurred. After the event he sent the Passport back for a refund and ordered the V1. The passport did go on alarm a couple of times out in the middle of nowhere for some reason.

Update:

NY and PA are connected and points WILL transfer. According to my lawyer, the "Good old Days" are gone. Thats the bad news.

I will fight the ticket.

They will almost always drop the speed down if you fight it.

For my past experiences, if the officer doesnt show in court, they drop it down 10 over which is only a fine. Most of the time they dont even show. I dont think you'll lose your license unless it was considered reckless driving. If that was the case, I dont think they would have let you drive it home...

Good Luck

In NY if its a speeding ticket the locality gets part of the take and so does the state. You might suggest to them to give you several high priced parking tickets. They keep all the money local and you get no points.Plead guilty to whatever amount of parking tickets they feel is appropriate. Bruce

Lauri, I don't think your insurance company is contacted, at least none of my son's ever affected his insurance. On the other hand if you try to get insurance from someone else, then they do check your driving record back at least 3yrs.
I hope this don't affect our trip to Tator's BBQ.
When we do go to Tator's we don't have to worry about getting pulled over cause we will be trying to keep up with Ed and Dan.

If the officer selected a court date and wrote it on the ticket, try this.

In Indiana, and I assume most other states, you have the right to ask for a new court date-- later than the original one. When they schedule a new court date they almost never inform the officer of the new date.

When you go to court, and the officer doesn't show, simply tell the judge, Yes, I was speeding, I'm simply here to do anything I can to keep the points from showing up on my license/insurance.

When I did this, the judge laughed and said, "Ron, yours is probably the only honest testimony I've heard all day. Case dismissed!"

Good Luck

Lauri,About 8 -9 months ago I was driving my pu truck home on cruise, not paying attention,V1 on the floor,no one in my lane,Speed limit sign drops 15mph and I was already about 8 over.Get ticket,go to court.Paid 3, $50.00 speeding tickets. Not all localities will do this. Some are hard *** and not smart enough to just take the money and put it in the town coffers.
