TA Details - input please

I am getting very close to buying an orange TA. There are a couple of details that are puzzling to me:

- The stitches on the steering wheel are black, not orange. Is that normal?
- The SRT badge on the dash does not show what number it is (i.e. 42/93). Is that normal?
- I was surprised to see, that the air intake behind the side window was the plastic version rather than carbon. Is that normal?

Before you all get going, I fully understand that the above are small details that won't make it go any faster. However, I would greatly appreciate any input from TA owners.

Thank you!

Forgot to add this: The clutch pedal travel is rather long (to me). Can you describe where the engagement point is i.e. do you need to fully engage it to shift, or can you get away with less?

Something is wrong. There should be a number. Look at the VIN number on the car. The last two digits should be the number of the TA. For instance, my last two digits are 26 and my car is 26 of 33. The emblem on the right side of the dashboard says 26/33.

The black steering wheel stitching is normal. I do not know what the air duct is made from but it is painted black. Aftermarket CF ducts are available but installing them is no cake walk. The clutch pedal feel is much lighter than prior Gens. Once you get used to that, it's fine.

The number is very small under the SRT on the badge, my guess is you missed it...if not ask the dealer to explain. No orange stitching on steering wheel, clutch engagement is quite high even though pedal travel is long, all have black plastic rear brake inlets...and car is awesome!

TA 23/33.

Correct - no orange stitching on the steering wheel even though if you look at the model shown on SRT it shows the orange stitching (see below).

Below is what the badge should look like. Mine is 06/93.

Just the input i was hoping for. Thank you, Bob and Bruce!
- Last two digits on the VIN number makes sense as to the TA number but for sure there are no numbers below the orange "SRT" badge.
- Clutch input was what I was hoping for (will help my short legs)!

Thanks !

I just looked at the picture I took of the badge - there is indeed a hint of some numbers there. Bruce, you were right, I missed it (this is probably the first time I was wrong about anything - you can check with my wife).

Thank you, to all !!!!

Now - the bike comparison is something I can relate to. I have a Ducati 916 SPS, hoping that the Viper will provide some of that same engagement. I have always had BMW's - still do.

I did see one orange TA on cars.com that had black stripes. I didn't know you could get those.

And the Exterior Carbon Fiber Accent Package comes with carbon front and rear brake ducts, as well as the carbon fiber rear applique which the TA already gets standard.

I bought my car off the lot, but you may have been able to order one with the Accent Package, just like the stripes.

Anyone out there done that for their TA?

no option for stripes on any ta from the factory.

Which was weird that I saw one picture of one car at a dealer. I didn't think you could get those. I swear up and down there is one orange car with black SRT stripes. I just checked all the places that still have one for sale (I keep a spreadsheet because I'm a nerd), but I can't find it. It must have sold between August 12th and now.

I should have saved the picture, in retrospect, of course. Anyone happen to buy one with stripes? LOL

I saw one at Virginia International Raceway with matt black stripes, but that was not available from the factory. Others here have had them added with both paint and vinyl....same with any aero bits you want.

If it is the one for sale at Roanoke, the stripes are vinyl. I think it has less than 400 miles and the original owner traded it in on a Stryker Green SRT with Aero.

Silly boys and their money!!

That makes sense, Brian. Seems a shame to trade one in so soon, but I bet the new owner got a great deal on it!
