The local vipertech replaced the "cluster" for the tach because at rpms anywhere above 5,000 the needle stops and jumps, rather than sweeping in a smooth arc. The new cluster didn't help. Does anyone know what I can suggest that he do to fix the tach in my 05 SRT? Thanks.

I think all the 03-05's do that, because I asked on here if the tach had trouble keeping up, and others responded that its a common problem.

NOW.. on my 06 coupe, no such problem ,thank god, because with BOOOOOST that tach has to really stay on top of its game, and boy does it ever !!! its as responsive as my gen 2. But yes, your problem is exactly the same in my dads 05.

DC says I need a new CPM, and they are sending one under warranty. That must be the bottom line. Thanks for your comments.

Notice I asked over a year ago, and a response was something along the lines of "yeah thats normal"

So I assumed thats how it was, and we didnt attempt to have it fixed. SOB ! ok, so what is this CPM part, and when will yours be replaced, so that I know if this works or not.

I'm not sure, but I think the CPM is the computer module. The cluster is the first thing they change; if that doesn't fix it, they change the CPM. If you're still in warranty, go for it; that is NOT NORMAL-you can't tell you're at redline until the motor shutsdown! No way to run a racecar....
