Taming the high flo cat - Holy Grail for Ears.

Well folks, I've combed through as many links and posts as I could find on the subject of high flo cats here and still havent found a clear answer. Right out front I'll state I am sound sensitive and want to avoid the tinitus that so many of my friends have now. Seems more folks are looking to scale back their sound now. Anyway, bear with me here.

1. Just installed a Roe Blower (5 lbs) on a 2000 GTS.
2. I am considering a high flo cat to allow for heat reduction/ improved flo.
3. I have hard just about all the typical 3" cat back systems. Nothing knocks me out yet. Yes they are louder, got that. I realize I'm not going to get my V8 rumble fix out of my V10. All of the typical systems are way too loud, way too raspy. Its fun, it just not soundng good to me.

So...

Has anybody installed a high flo cat that wanted a reasonably quiet viper and found a good solution for the cat backs?

- Quad exhaust on the Borla. does that work?
- Has anybody added an additional mufflers? If so, what, where?
- How about adding additional heat resistant materials to the sills and continued using the stock cats?

Many thanks for anything that can shed some light on the search for reasonably quiet system with high flos.

There is no aftermarket exhaust that isn't louder than the stock one. Put your new cats on and leave the rest of the exhaust alone.

I have RT cats, Corsa exhaust and the Roe insulation wrap. The side sills still get plenty hot, especially if you have driven the car and then let it sit for a while. There just isn't any place else for the heat to go.

There you go! The Doc has given you your prescription. :)

Anything you do will make it louder. Doc's car (and Rick has the Corsa as well, I think) sound much deeper than stock and quite louder when you hit the go pedal.....but cruising around town, just a deeper rumble.

a friend on mine put a 2 inlett/2 outlett two chamber flowmaster at the rear, just before the tail pipes. i believe he had removed the factory cats and left muffler in the side sills. in the end the car sounded good. just food for thought.

I don't think that quiet, performance, and sound will work together in any type of system that is not stock.

I'm a little off subject here, but could you describe the benefits of adding a roe blower with the limited boost due to creampuff pistons? Is it worth the 10k or so? I own a 2001 RT/10 and I'm thinking of going along the same road...
