Well said, its ugly but some Pontiac Aztek lover will buy it. Wonder if they got the paint right on this one.For the last one, that is one ugly color. Sorry, just my opinion. I can see that color on a Mercury Marquis, but not a Viper. Good thing they have so many other ones so they don't have to look at this one as often...
Everyone has different things they like. As long as they like, that is all that matters.
It was not the last Viper. It was the last Gen IV. When the Gen V comes out, no one will care what "the last Gen IV" looked like.
IF there is a Gen V it will not have a V10 in it so it won't be a VIPER. However, my opinion is that there will be NO more VIPERS period.

1. The Gen V will have a V10.
2. I believe a considerable amount of work has already been done on the Gen V or Dodge/Chrysler would not have directly/indirectly solicited so much input from us over the past months.
3. As good as the SRT8 products are, they are not Halo cars in the true sense of the word. To allow Ford to have a powerful Mustang and GM to have the Corvette in all its iterations, without Dodge having a Viper would be a huge marketing mistake. Many Viper owners bought other Chrysler products solely because of the Viper.
4. If I was Dodge, I would do the following:
A. Make the design a bit more curvy and make sure it cannot be confused with a Z06 Vette by oncoming Vette owners.
B. Increase the power to 700HP on the streetable versions. Perhaps more on the off road versions.
C. Produce the car in five versions: Street, ADR ( American Drag Racer - drivable on the street but also good at the strip), ADRX ( an American Drag Racer for offroad use only),ACR, and ACRX.
D. Make sure that the tranny gearing allows for peak standing mile performance or have optional gearing available for same.
E. Make sure the car is wired for options and offer options for those who want them.
F. Make sure it comes in Black because I will want one.
ugliest viper yet
Wow I don't think they could have created a more ugly Viper for the last one. Earth tones do not belong on sports cars. The interior is a serious case of bad taste.
The last VIPER should not have been determined by a couple with too much money and no taste or sense of VIPER history.
The last one should have been a solid RED ACR with a red stitched black interior to bookend the history of the VIPER and be sitting in the Chrysler museum.
Sad way to end a great American icon. I guess that is what you get when Dodge is owned by Fiat.
You screwed the pooch Ralph. Shame on you. You should have honored the history of the VIPER and it's origin.
Mod friendly is not enough. Tuner cars are, with exceptions, not well balanced from an engineering point of view. The ACR was a screaming success. The ACRX output was doubled from the original allotment. I believe that an ADR and ADRX would also sell well. There are many people who will not go to a tuner. They want a balanced, fully warranted piece from the factory. We need those people to buy Vipers. Without them, in these economic times, selling the production of the car to the powers that be inside Chrysler will be tough.
