Wow...there is a lot of damage there! Not going to be cheap. I am sure there are busted pieces lurking underneath the front. Ugh....sorry man..that just *****!

Oh my! I hope you taught him a righteous lesson. Was he storing it for you or just took advantage of your kindness?

You broke the golden rule of viper ownership. Sorry to hear that but as far as deductible thats all you can get from him, the rest is insurance …..There was a similar thread last year but the 5k mile ACR ended wrapping itself around a tree with the help of a friend who owned a turbo car and just wanted to take it down the street….Good luck with fixing it.

My older cousin tried to 'insist' the keys from me one time. Instead, I took him for a drive and got in it hard. We live on a one way road way back in the woods so I had plenty of room to play. After I swapped ends a couple times and pinned him to the seat he actually realized stepping into 500+ hp was a whole new game and didn't want to drive anymore! I keep my friends by not letting them drive my car...

I would not let my friends even sit in the passenger side. If they do not like it, that's to bad, friends are easy to find, mint 99 GTSs are not.:usa:

My question would be, "Why are you running it through your insurance?"

Your "friend" should run it through his insurance. Then he can pay any deductibles, insurance increases, etc. Why should you have to pay anything?

The only people I have even offered to let drive my Viper is my wife and daughter. When I asked, I was pretty confident they would decline, and they did, because they knew how I felt about my "baby". If they had actually taken me up on my offer I don't know what I would have
done, but I would have thought of something. Really I had to offer to my wife. She's on the title with me. That was done so that when I pass away, (because I'm sure I'll have it that long) she will own it and can sell it without it have to go through probate.

My wife also drives ours to work sometimes. I'm fine with that, but the problem is she never wants to 'get in it', which is what I want her to do to see how much power it has and show her that she needs to respect it. My fear is one day she may want to pass a car and hit the throttle to go around. I keep telling her to make sure she pulls out from behind the car THEN get in the throttle. If she hits the gas first she may find herself with a new hood ornament. She doesn't realize that yet, which is why I'm also looking for a driving course for the both of us.

Also, we have the Viper on a separate policy from our two teenage girls. One reason is cost, but the other is to make sure the girls never have the option or permission to drive it!

Your friend was an amateur, this is what a real wreck looks like when your son in law borrows the Viper for Cars and Coffee, at least his version of C&C. Great thing was no one was hurt and no other cars were involved, easy to replace a car, not so much a family member.

Yes you definitely have me beat! Lol
How in the hell did he do that in a parking lot? Or is that just where he was able to drive it to?

Actually happen as he was leaving, maybe 1/8 to 1/2 mile down the road. We all know what cold tires and big HP does. I got a replacement that I like better anyway and as much as I like my Viper I like the son in law more, besides if something happens to him his kids will cost me big money to help raise them :)

As a reminder to him I did have this made and he's required to keep it on his desk.

Seriously why isn't his insurance paying for it. Even paying your deductible goes down as a claim on your insurance.

Couldn't agree more I have had Corvettes and Porsche's but it was a huge learning curve when we got our Viper....it can get away from you
quickly if you don't have experience driving a car with so much torque...
