The tires would be bought. Then the serial number on the tires is taged to the racer, and could be stored for the next event or required to be on the car at the next event. If your asking which trie is better you will have to get that info from some else.

Tom there is infinite talent in tip toeing a street tire to the best ET. And that works fine for "stock cars" or a street tire shootout. You forget about the rest of us who have modified cars with bolt ons. We are getting the most out of our combinations without opening the can. You can't get any gratification spinning the tires and feathering the throttle all the way down the track and going 2 tenths faster than a stock car when the potential is a second faster. Why bother. If that's the philosophy everyone should run street tires! A set of sticky tires is the single most effective performance improvement you can add!

I assume we go racing to show the maximum performance improvements or else we'd just post our dyno sheets and declare a winner. I'm I alone here guys? Chime in.

I would really like to see an all radial class as well. Any tire you want. It cannot have taller than a 40 profile, it has to fit on a stock rim size (front or rear), has to be radial, and you cannot run skinnies on the front. I am sure there are some other do and don'ts but that is all I can think of off the top. I would love to see a real all street tire class. Something you drive on everyday. Kumhos, bfg's, nitto, etc.

Utahviper, that's great. we get BFG or M/T to sponsor the class and everyone "Must" run that tire to be eligible. It's done in NMCA and the Pro muscle car series. It's called the Drag Radial class. It's an excellent way to solve a tire issue. It certianly wouldn't hurt to ask. If there is interest I would take that on.

Tom you know I have the most respect for you but, I agree and feel the same way as puals on this issue. There's not really a right or wrong way its more about the way you would like to run your own car if you attend one of these events. No one wants to run slower when they know they can go faster. The guys that spent money on tires and wheels should get to use them. Any tire should be allowed in each class. The owner will know what he's getting into and has the option to buy wheels and tires just like we did. If they lose by .5 they will know its only because of tires.

classes based upon HP and any tires allowed. period.

I feel that the index system worked pretty GOod in San Antonio. However I feel that there is improvement that is needed.

I am looking to improve the overall apeal of Viper Drag Racing. SO I am really examining the Ideas closely to make the events as fair as possible.

I like Tom's Idea of the HP class Breakdown, but I also feel the door is open for people to cheat on race Day.

The same is true for index.

I think the Index and HP classes is a much needed improvement of former events based on MODs. THis was too much room for argument.

I will make a decision by the weekend so it can be published in Viper Magazine with all the official dates.

any last minute ideas or comments?

thanks for the info guys.

I think the slicks should be allowed in any class for the main event. I need the tire people to step up and sponsor as well. Paul get to work on them!

stay tuned

San Antone was GREAT! I just wish I was able to make the Street Tire competition. Bring it back next year!

Question: why was qualifying cut short? I ran a 13.0 during qualifying because i missed 4th. People were accusing me of sandbagging (especially with a 13.0 is qualifying), but when you're shifting that fast, sometimes you miss a gear. I really needed a 2nd run just to save face.

We just had a bad track experience. The good thing is we know better now and this should never happen again. don't worry about Sandbagging. when you run good there is always speculation no matter what class you run in. we will perfect the series as the event evolves

this is a problem with index but not sure how to fix it. I dont think you sandbaged and you got the trophy no big deal!

Tony

keep me updated on the track rental. Need to work on my shifting, might get a little quicker!
