Marty [martyb] has Gen 3 seats in his GTS. You can check with him for feedback.

Perhaps a stupid question, but have you tried adjusting the lumbar support?

Many times. I wish it were not there as the seat sticks out too far anyway! I have used all my wieght and force to push every bit of air out of it and it helped a little, but the bottom part of the seat still comes out too far which pushes out on my back in the wrong place and causes a back-ache. One that will last a couple days.

The Gen 1 seats were very flat all the way up from the bottom and never gave me any problems. The Gen 2 seats contour more and just hit my back in the wrong spot.

Ideally, I could find some Gen 1 seats and change them out and keep the Gen 2 seats nicely stored in case I sell the car. But I really do not know how difficult it would be to put Gen 1 seats in as I am sure they bolt in differently.

Or, if there were some nice aftermarket seats that would fit, but it does not seem that anyone knows of any...

I could take it to a auto interior shop and see if they can help. Maybe they could swap out the current foam for something thatis softer and has more give, but I really don't want to mess with pristine seats, but I will if I can't find a solution.

I think in a GTS they work fine, but I thought I recently saw Gen 3 seats in a RT/10 and they were too tall. I even remember Dave6666 commenting on the height. I will have to search the threads. Thanks.

i have gen 3 seats in my rt 10 and yes you can make them look to tall in the car but where you adjust to sit and dirve they are about 1in from the top of the roll bar. I will take some pics with them adjusted correctly.

Is this with the stock seat brackets or with a seat lowering kit? Also, did you gain/lose/no change knee clearance between your knee and the knee bolster under the dash after installing GenIII seats?

Thanks,
- Tony

I'm only 5'9" so I should be ok I imagine. I just got to find some Gen 3 seats without the Viper tax.:omg:

Aren't there guys on this forum who deal in totalled Vipers? I haven't looked but you might be able to find one with a completely demolished front end with pristine seats that you could pick up for not a lot of money, and save your seats for when you want to sell the car.

Aren't the body types basicly the same? I would think the seats would be interchangable. No?

Do Gen III seats actually work for you? Maybe you should have a custom seat made from your existing seat. Nothing is worse than driving a car that doesn't fit properly and actually causes you pain. Who cares about originality, it's your back!

Yes, I need to find that out quickly. I have to talk with Photog1 who lives near me and see if his seats feel ok on me. I may even have the cover taken off and a softer foam put in so it has some give. My Gen 2 seats are extremely firm, especially the back. Thanks for the reminders and your concern. :)
