Time for more HP

I have been very impressed with my Vipers power in its stock form. After reading alot of threads about how wellthe 4th gens respond to exhaust and intake mods I figured it was time to try it out. Picking out headers was the hardest part of this deal. I spoke with many vendors and all were very helpful. In the end I went with the ACRX headers. Toddy at Bad Boyzz Garage was a pleasure to deal with. He gave me a great price on all the parts and delivered them on time as promised.

So here is what I decided to start with for my HP mods-

ACRX headers and cats with Jet Hot coating-

I am impressed with the build quality and the coating.

Toddy also set me up with a ported lower intake-

I had fully intended on doing the install myself with help from some friends. I had my car scheduled for a few warranty items to be done at Tomball Dodge so out of curiosity I asked for a quote on having their Viper Tech do the work. The quoted price was more than fair and I seen how maticulous Morgan(the Viper Tech at Tomball) is. So I had no issue letting them do the install. The install began yesterday and I am planning to pick it up around lunch time today.

I am going to run the factory cat back for the time being, I have a NIB Corsa setup for the car but I am trying to keep the car somewhat quiet.

As soon as I pick the car up today I will go dyno it to verify the added HP, I a more interested in how the car feels versus what a dyno tells me.

This is the dyno from back in early october, all stock with exception of a mopar ecu.

These number are uncorrected, the corrected numbers where 6-7hp less.


I would like to give a big thanks to Toddy at BBG and to Morgan at Tomball Dodge.

I'm running the same set up and got 582 corrected at ART last April during the round up. The tech lifted throttle at 5900 in error but I was pleased with the results. It was a free dyno pull so wasn't going to push for another shot at higher numbers. There were too many cars in line waiting for their turn. You should see at least that or more if your tech runs up to redline.

What is your HP now ? on what gas 91 or 93?

looks like I am replying in all your threads. :)

On 93 octane I did this a few weeks ago, this is corrected HP, the uncorrected number was 622. My car picked up over 60 rwhp with the BBG headers, cats, ported lower intake, M&M 3 " cat back , and Mopar ECU. The numbers would have been higher due to my first dyno was on sidewinder wheels and now I am on much heavier 20" custom wheels. I am very happy with the car so far and all of the vendors I have dealt with.

Are you sure you're not running an electric motor?......that is a very flat power curve with a lot of hp under the curve!

Great numbers! The ACR-X headers and Mopar ECU seem to be consistently in the 590 range.

Did you dyno right after the install or run it around for a few weeks 1st?

I need to get mine back in the dyno after the ECU has had time to "adapt" - shoud see 600+ I'd think. I'm running a Corsa track silencers with no cats & it's loud when you lay on the go pedal. I suggest hi-flows if you run an after market silencer (like RC did). I'm considering some smaller silencers where the cats used to go. It's fun & not bad with the windows up - with them down it's ear plug territory. I'm not going to hide from the po-po very well :)

You've posted this info numerous times. I get it, your trying to say you've dynoed higher than any other 4th gen with less mods. Do you have a dyno sheet to go with theses numbers? I will be willing to bet those are not SAE numbers and not on a dyno jet.

No, that's just how you took it. I don't know if it's higher than other cars or not. You are the one wanting more HP. This just shows what the car did with my mods. The dyno is posted in general viper discussions, search dyno day. Why don't you send a PM and I will discuss it with you.

No need for PM's. I'm not a dyno racer. I posted what my car did to assist the vendors that have helped me out thru my modding process to show their products work.

you can dyno the same car on 100 different dynos under the same conditions and ger 100 different "numbers" and (on these cars) get a 50 Hp spread. Most inportant is to do the before & after on the same dyno under relatively similar conditions (hot/cold engine, humid/dry, winter/summer, etc.). The Mopar ECU, Headers, hi-flo's & performance silencers will net a 60'ish HP gain (over 10%). Pretty awesome return at around $75/HP. I've had the same car on 3 different dynos and there is over 30hp difference between them.

Now the real "numbers" - what does your car produce on thos 9 months of Houston 95+ degree days at 98% humidity with a hot engine? We all know these things will dyno 615-620 on a 40 degree day after icing down the manifolds - what are you putting down the 99% of the time you are driving it ;)

And BTW - are those dyno numbers after you drove the crap out of it for a couple of weeks or right after the install (ECU adapted or not)? :)

I know you bought the ported lower manifold only, but what do Toddy's heads add to the package hp-wise?

He posted the SAE corrected numbers of 598rwhp, so that's what it makes on that dyno, that day. I was there and I bet his commute that day was 60 miles (we live close) and his car probably cooled down roughly 2 hours before its pulls. Not sure about your question about what we make down here in the heat but it's obviously lower the hottest months of the year, but not sure how that matters since anyone he runs is dealing with the same conditions on the same day.

We do get to drive our cars year round so it's a nice trade off:D

I'm not sure what dyno's your using but every dynojet I've been on and used the SAE correction factor has been fairly consistent, 5-10 HP spread max. My car has been on the same Dyno after every mod to verify gains. My car is well into the 600's now with heads and clutch, i have the dyno sheet showing 620rw with 20 miles on the relearn for the ecu When I get a chance to go back to Houston again I will re-Dyno and get video for proof. I'm not one to dwell on Dyno numbers, yes I Dyno to verify gains but that's where my need for a number stops, I would rather just line then up. You interested?

I'd be interested in lining up with my stock '08, but only because I want to see just how fast your car is with those mods ;)

Any chance you'll be attending a mile event or taking it to a drag strip in the near future?

I'll be attending a private 1/4 mile track day here in few months. No plans for a mile event but I am part of TSS (Texas Speed Syndicate) that hosts the Texas Invitational twice a year in Dallas. It's side by side racing on an airstrip.

Very strong numbers guys! Anything making 600+RWHP with minor mods is worth bragging about. Have any of you gone down the 1/4 mile to see what numbers you put down?
