ElDiablo Viper:

Go out to www.samviper.com you can see the GT-2 style wing from JonB that I have on my Yellow Fever and the same one I had on my 99 ACR. There are couple of pictures there during the install as well and I may have a few more if you are interested of the install.

In my opinion the wing makes a Viper even more special. Not many cars look good with a wing but a Viper sure does.....

The right wing on a GTS certainly looks the business in my opinion, adds a bit more zing. Here's a few pics of **** GT2 wing, which is rather COOL

You may want to take a look at the Hennessey wing. It's a little more refined looking. Personally, I really like the way it looks on the GTS. I'm sure someone must have pictures of one. I like wings on the car. Of course, it will slow you down if you do any drag racing.
Good luck with whatever you decide. Remember, as long as you like it, that's all that really matters

ElDiablo Viper:

You can purchase the one I have on my car from JonB at www.partsrack.com, this is the wing that Kingman Hitz designed. It is pretty involved because it mounts to the rear tag area of the Viper. The top rear glass fascia area will need two cuts. Larry Macedo at Performace MotorSports did mine during the upgrade and did a great job!!!! If really interested I would contact Larry about installation or tips on installation.

Eldiablo Viper,
I second Nadine's comments. I have a Hennessey wing and really like it (check my avatar) . It looks like it was designed with the car (my opinion). You might have trouble getting one now, given Hennessey's current situation. When I got mine from him I was really shocked at the poor quality control in the finish of the thing. It took my body & paint guy many hours just to get it ready to paint. Now that it's on I like it so much I have almost forgotten all of the initial problems with it.
Good luck,
Bob K

Sorry, I said Nadine when I meant Laura! What was I thinking? I don't even know a Nadine! Actually, I don't know Laura either but I agree with her on the wing thing.

I agree with SAM Team. The " Wing King " designed a great wing and JonB is a great supplier!
You'll love it and wish you had done it sooner.

ElDiablo...... this one's an EASY answer! It's like picking a favorite flavor of ice cream! Everyone will have a different opinion about what THEY like. Pick the style YOU like. Decide which factors of strength versus looks versus price is important to you, then do your homework and take your pick! I would tell you to jump right in and GO for it, because everyone KNOWS a GTS looks absolutely "nekid" without one...... except then some purist would probably come pick on me..... so I'll just pass on that!

I agree with all. my avatar is of my 2001 with the Autoform wing. Now I have the last yellow GTS off the line and now that I have seen Sam's car,I just changed my order with John B to the GT2 style Wing.

El Diablo Viper,

If you are serious about road racing the car, the best wing and splitter is the last iteration of the ORECA/factory GTSR wing and splitter. McCann Racing makes them and they are sold through Archer Racing (218-727-4806). The front runners in the Viper Days Viper Racing League run this setup. It is all carbon fiber and very limited production so bring your check book. There are also other good wings out there but be careful to select a wing and splitter with high lift to drag ratios. All wings are not created equal and some of them out there only generate downforce because of the sheer weight of them.

This splitter sits very low so I anticipate you would have to remove it for street cruising or risk damaging it. With the wing and without the splitter there will be too much rear downforce at speed so I wouldn't go "racing" on the street or track in this configuration. Remember, if you do a rear wing, you also need to put on a front splitter to balance the car. Keep this in mind when selecting to get a set that will work properly together.

In response to GTS Bruce's comment, you will lose a few mph top speed, but you will not go slower on a road course because cornering speed, corner exit speed, and braking will be dramatically improved (which is why your lap times will drop). Why do you think all race cars use aerodynamic devices to generate downforce/reduce lift.

Here is a link showing this wing and splitter setup both painted and natural carbon fiber. http://vca1.viperclub.org/ubb/Forum14/HTML/011126.html

Check out a Viper Days event, lots of different wings show up there and you can see what they look like and ask a lot of questions.

Good luck with your decision, you can't go wrong because the car looks great both with and without a wing/splitter combo.

Best regards,
