To tint or not to tint???

Looking for some input, how many of you have tinted windows on your Vipers?

Does anyone with tinted windows on a Red SRT 10 have pictures they can post?

I got mine done the other day. Car looks a lot better, especially with the silver. The back window was pretty hard for him to do.

I've always wondered why 99% of the Vipers I've seen have not been tinted. I know there is a slight tint on the factory glass, but still not nearly enough to be functional. Any thoughts?

people are always trying to see what the inside looks like,and if you don't want finger and hand prints on your windows, forget the tint. In my case, my windows are almost always down...

I haven't tinted my other Vipers because visibility was already an issue, and I didn't want to lose any more.

My (Gen II RT) windows and back window are tinted. On the black car it looks extremely nice. With the black hard top on and windows up, it looks almost sinister, and improves the look even. I don't even notice the tinting in the car, even at night.

Theres a really good place off of 45 (near Almeda Mall) called 'Hurricane Glass' that does an excellent job. Their prices are good as well.

You definitely want to ask around. Make sure they use the best tint possible!

Just make sure that your state will allow it before you do it. Here in Jersey you could have a ticket on it. I got a warning a while back and removed it since then . Also it won't pass the inspection if you have one. Just my .02 cents.

I should have a ticket, probably should have many. My tint is limo dark. I roll down the windows when cops are around just to avoid problems. I didn't tint the back window yet, but it looks easy to do on the SRT but like others have said, visibility is an issue.

I had my GTS professionally done as the back glass looked tough to do myself. There are no problems with the defrost wires as some people think. Bubbles are caused by people who don't know what they are doing, not by the defrost lines.

I don't tint my windows because I want to be able to make eye contact with the idiots trying to run into me. And then I want them to see the finger.

Have a pro do it and ask to see work he has done. A pro did mine and was able to do the back glass of my GTS in ONE PIECE. (He was GOOD). Also make sure that the tint going on your car will look BLACK. Some cheaper black tints look "purple".

Exactly what do you mean, not legal in CA? Everytime I see the Osbornes cruising in their 745Li, Mini, X5, SL500 etc, they have tint. Do the police look the other way when you're a celeb? or do the celebs just keep paying the fines?

its illegal in cali, i had mine tinted on my mustang, limo tint, and got many many tickets, each ticket was only $77 dollars, you just sign it and they send you a fine in the mail. i never took mine off, and had about 25 tickets over the years, i didnt care, that was the price to have the look the way you want it, but it does give those prik cops a reason to harrass and pull you over if they want

It isn't legal in CA. I know, I was wondering about the accuracy of that statement when I saw the previous posting that stated it wasn't legal, so I researched it last night (i.e. did some google searches), and my conclusion is to agree that it still isn't legal in CA - at least anything you or I would call "tinting".

As most of us know, tinting is rated by how much light it lets through. Most people don't even notice it until its less than 50%. Most aftermarket tints are in something like three levels, around 30%, 20%, and 5% (5% or thereabouts is most often called "limo" tint).

CA allows nothing less than 70% on the front side windows, and doesn't care about the back (or rear side windows for a four-door), as long as you have dual-side rearview mirrors.

Yeah, I'm in CA, and I have tinted windows. I bought the car from out-of-state last year and it showed up with tinted windows, which look awesome on the car. I wondered about the legality of it, but was comforted when a fellow club member told me it was now legal. It doesn't seem to be, though. Joy.

Not legal in almost all states but it just looks so good I had to. Many just get fines for it but once in a while a court order is issued making you remove it in front of them. I have heard of this happening to a few people.
