Moral of the story - too much is never enough.

Yes that is somewhat true for long straight stretches of open road where extremely high hp (1000+) can be transferred to the road and if owning a real beast is the #1 factor.

I think to maximize fun factor for both straight & semi curved roads anything beyond 700hp at motor in 3200lb with great suspension, steering, tires is overkill.

700 hp motor in 3200lb from what i found seems to be a great number for ******** weekend guys...something we wont get bored of soon... unless serious straight line power is what you want.

You can never have too much horsepower when you have experience and you know how to use your right foot. Just ask Plumcrazy.

You know my Ferrari F430 F1 is slow, but I really enjoy driving the car. It feels right. Will I run 10s in 1/4? No, but it sounds so good and handles beautifully. I guess I am saying It just depends on what you have the car for.......

agreed...my lil 300 HP 2900 pound nsx is a high 13 second car..But it just feels right as well and is very pleasurable to drive.

Viper is just a monster platform for power though. Anytime your car comes stock with 13 inch rear tires you know you are in for some good times

You can build a car for various purposes. The optimal track car differs from the optimal 1/4 mile car, which may differ from the optimal long-haul cruiser car.

In the end, I enjoy excess. I recognize that a setup is probably not well optimized for competition if your spinning up the tires deep into the triple digit mphs... but looking over to watch your passenger's ass eat your seat cushion when you stomp the loud pedal is a GD treat to me. :)
