Too red or not too red, that is the question. Or, can you go back from black?

So, to date my vipers have been black, which is pretty much my fav color for any car. I have all my other cars in silver combos to make life easier in their care & feeding. I sold my Gen3 and now shopping for a GenIV vert. Naturally I want black (silver would be 2nd choice)

It would seem that Dodge didnt make any viper verts in black in 08-09, at least by resales anyway, and when I find a lone black one it's build date is prior to April 08, so it has hollow halfshafts, and I want the solid shafts (insert shaft joke here). What I am finding is red, red, everywhere.

My son has said ehhh, red is OK but... and although I've had red cars, I can't say it'd be my #1 choice for the viper. I was thinking if I did red I could do black stripes, the thicker ones like I've seen a couple guys here have, to tie-in the black top better and maybe tone it down.

Anyway, do I keep waiting for a post 4/08 black one to come up on the resale roulette wheel, or jump on a hot viper red one now?????

Wow. Words to live by right there! :D:rolaugh:

I would say on a car like a Viper, don't settle for less. Wait till you get what you want. It may take a few weeks/months, but when you get what you really want..... thats what it is about! :)

And no one wants a crummy red car so go black, or yellow, or even both! :D

I have had a number of black cars and a black F250. Black takes alot of care as I am sure you already know. The bright red looks great in pictures and is easy to take care of in regards to keeping the car clean and "polished".

Color matching is easier with red as compared to yellow not that yellow ever matters.:rolaugh: PLUS it is faster than yellow. :drive:

I have a black '08 Roadster. I know there were a few out there when I bought mine. I'd hold off on red and find a black one.

Red is so photogenic! I actually like the deeper red color a lot, but I hear you on black. After having a black Cobra and a black F250, I needed a change. When it comes to a high end car though, never settle. Even if you had to change out the half shafts, it's worth it.

So the 09 and 10's have solid half shafts????

Go black. Too many red ones out there and black Vipers look sinister.

If I had bought an 08 car, I would have gotten one of the "new for 08" colors to distinguish it from every other Viper out there.

Aren't you tired of black paint yet anyways?!?

I had a Black '06 Coupe which I traded on the Venom Red '08 Coupe.

The VR looks incredible in the sunlight, and it is easier to keep clean than black but, Black is the $hit!

Although I want no parts of black on my DD anymore - Too much upkeep.

I'm pretty sure yellow is for people who can't afford red.

Ever notice how a yellow Ferrari is about 20% cheaper than any other color?

Haha. I'm just kidding (not about the Ferrari price though).

I have owned two red Vipers (93 and my current 06), a blue/white 97 and a black/silver 00 GTS. I would never buy black again (upkeep and I feel some of the "lines" are lost). I would buy red or blue. I kind of wish I had a blue SRT. Oh well.

I don't know, my red GTS doesn't show well in pictures. I can't wait to get rid of the red...

Yea there is a part of me that would like a change, especially since my gen3 had 6 spokes and a vipair hood, to get a black gen4, it'll look nearly exactly the same.

That's not the color but the photographer ;). Red is one of the easier colors to shoot well. Black on the other hand requires some skill to get it to look it's best in photos.

Yea, I'm continuing to hold out at this point. I've just got serious sellers remorse, I can't believe how much I miss my car, it's just a car ... but I guess that's what vipers do to you. My wife is like - just buy one already and stopping moping around. I need a viper ... didn't think I'd sell mine in a day, thought I'd have time to locate the next. Ugh. I mean I have 5 other cars and 6 bikes, you'd think I could distract myself while waiting, darn viper venom gets in your veins and you're ruined for life. lol

When I was looking for my car I wanted a blue one, and then I found a smoking deal on a red one. Long story short Im so happy that I ended up with the red pic.

Cubican- now that's my kind of red, very nice. It's seeing a car like that that makes me think about red.

You can really make the red cars pop , the trick is not to over do it. When I think of the Viper I still remember the first show viper made and it was viper red.

Got to give you....your just due----that is one of the best looking Vipers I've seen period. That black over red creating the single red stripe (ACR styel) is WICKED COOL. Very nicely done!

Both!
