Torque Spec help please

I need the torque spec to the four bolts that hold the wheel bearing hub assembly on. Can anyone help?

2008 Viper, also need the torque spec for the caliper bolts.

Front or rear wheel hub? Rear is 110lb, don't recall front off the top of my head, but it is considerably less.

85lb on the caliper bolts.

The bolts that I am talking about would snap at half that. I believe you maybe thinking of the main axle nut on the rear. Not even sure if it is that high though.

No THANK YOU! I'm actually doing a rear hub swap on my GEN3 and I was going to rent a torque wrench to bolt the nuts down to 325 torque! Glad I ran into this thread cuz that would've been ugly! Thanks a lot!

This is from the service manual...hope it helps




CAUTION: A special corrosion prevention gasket (1) must be installed between the hub and bearing and the steering knuckle. The gasket is required to prevent galvanic corrosion between the hub and bearing and the steering knuckle.


1. Install a new corrosion prevention gasket (1) on hub and bearing mounting flange (2).




2. Install hub and bearing (with gasket) in steering knuckle (1). Align holes in corrosion prevention gasket with holes in hub and bearing, and knuckle.
3. Install four hub and bearing mounting bolts (3). Tighten mounting bolts to 61 N·m (45 ft. lbs.).

For the caliper bolts.




2. Install brake caliper (40 on steering knuckle (1). Install brake caliper mounting bolts and tighten to 115 N·m (85 ft. lbs.).
3. Install brake flex hose on brake caliper as follows:
a. Place NEW copper seal washers on each side of banjo fitting located on end of flex hose.
b. Install banjo bolt through washers and banjo fitting, into threaded caliper hose port. Tighten banjo bolt to 31 N·m (23 ft. lbs.).
4. Install wheel and tire assembly (Refer to 22 - TIRES/WHEELS - INSTALLATION). Progressively tighten wheel mounting nuts in proper sequence to 135 N·m (100 ft. lbs.).
5. Lower vehicle.
6. Remove brake pedal holding tool.
7. Bleed brakes as necessary. (Refer to 5 - BRAKES - STANDARD PROCEDURE)

I am curious... what is it that one would have the VCA do in supplying more of this "technical data" ??
Please note that I am asking this in a constructive context (i.e....specific suggestions)NOT a critical context.


I find most of my own needs answered by the Service Manuals (or the extra manuals for Body, Powertrain, Electrical, etc.) for 1992-2006...after which I use the Mopar supplied 2008 and 2009 CD versions of the Service Manuals obtained through Tech Aurtority. And, YES...we are still waiting on the 2010 Service Manuals due out later this year through the efforts of "GK" ( THANKS, GK !!!).

I do recall that the 2008 Manual became unavailable at one point, but the 2009 Manual was still available at that time...and, works better in my opinion. As of TODAY, however, BOTH the 2008 and the 2009 Service Manuals are listed on Tech Authority...at $199.95

INTERESTINGLY, when attempting to go through the Tech Authority selection process today (brand, year, make, medel, etc) the site did not register the inquiry several times. By using the search bar, however, I was able to locate said Manuals. Also, when I signed in, the selection process flowed along well. MORAL: be persistant !!

Sorry I am looking up specs again and found my old thread. (not looking for same info as before). What I would like to have available on the VCA is exactly that, technical information. They could have the service manuals listed on here by model year or at least the most common torque values. I don't need to know how to take off a wheel or take out an engine. I need the torque specs in a quick easy to find look up. Look at any of the sites like LS1tech, LS1modular, SVTPerformance etc.... They ALL have tremendously more information than this site. As our cars are more limited it should be EASIER to have this information available and with a Venom or maybe optional membership you should be able to access the entire manuals. Can I go buy one, absolutely, does that change that this site should have more information on it, Not in my opinion. I think that a paid membership to a forum should bring value. This site does, but does not even give as much as some (most) free car enthusiast forums. Just my opinion.

Other things I would like to see if more user write ups. The powers at be could come up with an easy to fill out instruction template to keep all of the user write ups in the same basic format.

I would think there's not a bolt on the Viper torqued to 350. I could definately be wrong. Even axle nuts are under 200, if im remembering right. Maybe a damper bolt

This spec sheet shows 240 ft. lbs. for the axle nut you refer too (hub nut)
