For those who are very bored and easily entertained, I shot a track day video of my Viper. A Z-car club was having a meet there that day, which explains all the Z-cars. The outside the car footage is courtesy of my 13 year old son. Where possible, I tried to match inside and outside shots.

It's about 40 megs, in wmv format

Not bored , but easily entertained and since I have not run Second Creek yet, it would be great to see a vid of the full course from inside the car. Looks like you were King of the Hill, and from what I have heard Second Creek is more of a handling course than a horsepower one?!

Nice video. You really show those critics, who believe Vipers are uncontrollable, how to drive one........Nicely done! Also I love the sound of the Corsa exhaust.

What was you top speed coming down the open stretch?

Cheers

I was on my Pilot Sport Cups

Top speed is between 115 and 120 on the front straight.

2nd Creek is definitely a handling course. I've surprised more than one person who is under the mistaken impression that Vipers don't handle well. My brakes also give me a big advantage, as 2nd Creek is very brake-intensive and having big, fade-free brakes can really make you a lot faster on that track.

In three weeks, I will be back at 2nd Creek for my first ever SCCA Time Trials event. Competition should be much more intense, as the folks showing up for the Trials will be much more ********* than the Z-club. I know that there are three very fast Vettes and a very fast Camaro that will be there. I'm looking forward to seeing how I do against stiffer competition. It will be my first ever timed laps anywhere, so it will be interesting to see how fast I really am around that track.

I will try to get a full lap video during the trials to share.

Hey KAI,

that track is a hoot. Yer car looks flat and looks like it handles well. There is an SCCA T1 race there this weekend. We were there last year and set a track record of a 1:10.5 in a Z06 but the SRT10 should be better yet with those killer brakes.

Let us know how you do :)

Does your camera have EIS, or Electronic Image Stabilization? Those long-zoomed shots are nauseating.

Nice editing, where you patched clips together from two different videos, to give continuity between in-car, and outside action.

Overall, very interesting. Rock on!

The in-car camera has EIS. The other one, I don't know. I borrowed it for the week-end. The real problem with that camera was that the camera man was my 13 year old son, who doesn't have a grasp on how to shoot anything.

ViperSRT10: Sometimes I was trying to go fast, and others I was just cruising around. Most of these track events require the driver in front to point you past before you are allowed to pass. Usually, I will try to go fast until I catch up to somebody, then I will hang back a bit, and just match their speed so as not to crowd them too much, then close with them as we approach the straight.
Most of the time they will point me past after I have appeared in their rear view mirrors. Occasionally, the guy ahead of you won't figure out that you're behind him for a reason, and then I may have to ride his bumper a bit before he gets the message (or wait for one of the corner workers to show a blue flag.) So, if it looks like I'm not really pushing it in the in-car video where I am chasing somebody, I probably am taking it easy to give the guy in front of me some space.

Damn!! That's fast. Based on the results from the recent SCCA time trials at 2nd Creek, I will need to run in the 1 minute 15 second range in order to win my class. There are cars that run faster, but they don't tend to be street legal. The fastest street legal car at the last event was a Corvette that ran a 1:16.967 There were a couple of other street legal cars in the same neighborhood. I have no idea how I will fare, as I've never timed myself. It should be a lot of fun.

Yeah, it was a perty good lap ;) Of course that was only one lap in ideal conditions. If I could offer a tip one of the best deals I figured out at SCR was after the hairpin (which BTW your line looks good through the hairpin) is stay about 18" driver's left of the apex coming up the hill after the hairpin. I know it sounds crazy but you can carry a buttload more speed because you miss that horriffic bump right at the right side edge of the road at the apex...

Give it a try and lemmy no how it works :2tu:

Good luck with yer time trials, you got a good hot rod there!
